Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided to validate radio operations at post-construction of a cell site. A system includes a processor to execute testing software to validate at least one operation related to a radio of the cell site; a receiver to capture at least one transmit sent in a radio downlink in a cell sector; a location service to determine positional information during the capture of a downlink transmit; the processor to cause the testing software to perform an analysis of the positional information and downlink transmit to identify the cell site by computation of directional angles derived about the downlink transmit, and the processor to measure at least one operation data related to the radio for use to perform at least one radio operation test configured by the testing software to validate at least one radio operation at the cell site.

Abstract: An example method of testing a cell site includes capturing a transmission from a radio at the cell site on a mobile device located at the cell site, receiving position data on the mobile device while capturing the transmission, and verifying that the position data identifies the cell site on the mobile device. The mobile device receives a signal from the radio at the cell site at a frequency and validates a measurement of a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of the signal at the frequency. The mobile device validates a power up of the radio at the cell site without detecting an alarm, and the mobile device validates that a connection on a port of an antenna at the cell site is coupled to a low-band connection or a high-band connection.

Abstract: A method for testing a cell site during or after construction of the cell site is provided. In various embodiments, the method is implemented by a processor on a computing platform that includes a DU emulator. In those embodiments, the method includes establishing a first connection between a distributed unit (DU) emulator and a cell site router (CSR) of the cell site, wherein the DU emulator emulates functions of a DU; establishing a second connection between a radio unit (RU) and the CSR, wherein the RU is coupled to the DU emulator through the CSR; and causing, via the DU emulator, one or more tests to be performed at the cell site, wherein the one or more tests include at least one of a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) test, a passive intermodulation (PIM) test, a physical cell identifier (PCI) test, or a cable test.
