Abstract: Water thinnable coating compositions are prepared by incorporating therein as the pigment binder an acidified aminoethylated copolymer having pendant amino-alkylate groups of the formula WHEREIN R1 and R2 are independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkyl radicals of one to four carbon atoms and the average value of n ranges from about 1.0 to 2.5 and wherein the copolymer before aminoethylation contains at least 3 percent by weight pendant -COOH groups. Water dispersant epoxy resin coating compositions are also disclosed.
