Abstract: A golf ball has, on a surface thereof, a rugged pattern composed of a land and a large number of dimples. A method for designing the rugged pattern includes the steps of: (1) assuming a large number of circles on a surface of a phantom sphere; (2) assuming a large number of generating points 16 based on positions of the large number of circles; (3) assuming a large number of Voronoi regions 18 on the surface of the phantom sphere by a Voronoi tessellation based on the large number of generating points 16; and (4) assigning a dimple and a land to the surface of the phantom sphere based on contours of the large number of Voronoi regions 18.

Abstract: A golf club c1 has a base part 2, a laser discoloration layer 6, and a protection layer 8. The laser discoloration layer 6 is provided on the outer side of the base part 2. The protection layer 8 is provided on the outer side of the laser discoloration layer 6. The protection layer 8 has laser beam transparency. The laser discoloration layer 6 can be discolored by irradiation of a laser beam. Preferably, an undercoat layer 4 is further provided between the base part 2 and the laser discoloration layer 6. Preferably, the undercoat layer 4 is not discolored by the laser beam. Preferably, the laser discoloration layer 6 includes abase material resin and a laser discoloration material.

Abstract: Provided is an impact point estimation apparatus for estimating an impact point on a face surface of a head when a golf club having a grip, a shaft and the head is swung and hits a golf ball. The apparatus has an acquisition unit, a calculation unit, and an estimation unit. The acquisition unit is configured to acquire time series sensor data that is output from at least one of an angular velocity sensor and an acceleration sensor that is attached to at least one of the grip and the shaft. The calculation unit is configured to calculate a characteristic value of an initial stress wave that occurs due to impact from the sensor data acquired in an analysis period including an initial period after impact. The estimation unit is configured to estimate the impact point on the face surface, according to the characteristic value. The analysis period is before a predetermined short time period has elapsed from impact.

Abstract: A head measuring method of the present invention includes: (a) preparing a golf club having a head having a plurality of markers provided thereon; (b) photographing the head by a camera disposed at a position, wherein a backward distance between the position and a center point of a ball is equal to or greater than 0, to obtain a head image near an impact; and (c) analyzing the head image to calculate a position and attitude of the head near the impact. Preferably, three or more combinations of the markers set such that the marker interval is equal to or greater than a head vertical width exist.

Abstract: Provided is a weight pattern determination apparatus for determining, in a golf club having a head capable of mounting one or more weights in a plurality of mounting patterns, the mounting pattern suited to a golfer. The apparatus has an impact point specification unit and a pattern determination unit. The impact point specification unit specifies an impact point distribution of the golfer. The pattern determination unit determines a recommended pattern which is the mounting pattern that approximates a sweet area of the golf club to the impact point distribution. According to the first aspect of the present invention, the impact point distribution of the golfer is specified, and a mounting pattern is determined based on this impact point distribution.
