    摘要: An image display apparatus includes a backlight unit where a reflection panel is installed at a bottom thereof, a polarization panel which transmits only light of a particular polarization direction of light emitted from the backlight unit, a polarization switch which changes the polarization direction of incident light, a birefringent element array which is formed by alternately arranging a plurality of first and second birefringent elements and changes the polarization direction of incident light to make the polarization directions of light passing through the first and second birefringent elements perpendicular to each other, a reflective polarizer panel which transmits only light of a particular polarization direction of the light passing through the birefringent element array and reflects light of the other polarization direction, a lens array which separates incident light into a first view zone and a second view zone, and a display panel which displays an image.

    摘要: Provide is a method of driving a barrier panel device. Segment driving voltages are controlled to be applied to a plurality of segments of a first electrode of a barrier panel based on a display direction of an image signal displayed on an image display panel of an apparatus for reproducing a 3D image. An odd barrier driving voltage is controlled to be commonly applied to odd numbered barriers of a plurality of barriers of a second electrode of the barrier panel. An even barrier driving voltage is controlled to be commonly applied to even numbered barriers of the plurality of barriers. The segment driving voltage, the odd barrier driving voltages, and the even barrier driving voltages are synchronized.

    摘要: Provided are a 2D (2-dimensional)/3D (3-dimensional) display apparatus using a scanning backlight and a method of controlling the same. The apparatus sequentially includes a backlight which is capable of scanning and irradiating polarized light, a retarder which transmits light emitted from the backlight as phase-maintained light and phase-delayed light, a lenticular array which transmits light from the retarder as directional light, and a display panel which displays an inputted image and which is illuminated by light being transmitted through the lenticular array. The backlight includes a plurality of light guide plates which are independently disposed and arranged in parallel with one another, a plurality of light sources which are provided for the respective light guide plates and emit light, and a plurality of polarization filters which are arranged in front of the respective light guide plates. The scanning frequency of the backlight is synchronized with the input frequency of the input frames so that an illumination function and a scanning function are simultaneously performed using one backlight, a 2D image and a 3D image are efficiently displayed and crosstalk is reduced.

    摘要: A 2D/3D switchable display device includes a light source unit; a polarization switching unit for switching light from the light source unit to one of first polarized light and second polarized light, which is perpendicular to the first polarized light; a parallax barrier including slits and barriers that are alternately arranged, wherein the slits transmit incident light and the barriers transmit one of the first and second polarized light and reflect the other of the first and second polarized light; and a display panel for modulating light transmitted through the parallax barrier in response to an image signal to create an image. The 2D/3D switchable display device controls an electric signal applied to the polarization switching unit so that a 2D image and a 3D image are switched to each other.

    摘要: A stereoscopic display for switching between two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) images. The stereoscopic display includes a display device providing an image and a parallax barrier unit that transmits all incident light in a 2D mode and forms barriers to separate an image for a left eye from an image for a right eye in a 3D mode by moving two facing polarization grating screens relative to each other. The polarization grating screens have a grating pattern such that two kinds of birefringence elements changing the directions of polarization of incident light into different directions are alternately disposed horizontally and vertically, and each row of the birefringence elements is shifted with respect to a previous row by a predetermined horizontal distance.
