摘要： The present invention provides a system and method for compensating captured images. Briefly described, one embodiment comprises white balance compensating a strobed image data and a nonstrobed image data using a first white balance compensation value corresponding to supplemental illumination provided by a supplemental illumination source, determining a difference between the strobed image data compensated with the first white balance compensation value and the nonstrobed image data compensated with the first white balance compensation value, white balance compensating the nonstrobed image data using a second white balance compensation value corresponding to ambient light, and combining the difference to the nonstrobed image white balance compensated using the second white balance compensation value.

摘要： Systems and methods of smile detection are disclosed. An exemplary method comprises generating a search map (400) for a subset of an image (300). The method also comprises identifying a plurality of candidates (400a-f) representing mouth corners. The method also comprises generating parabolas (410) between each pair of candidates representing mouth corners. The method also comprises analyzing contour of at least one of the parabolas to determine whether the mouth curves substantially upward to form a smile or curves substantially downward to form a frown.

摘要： When a digital camera detects that it has been placed in a demo dock, it resets internal settings to demo defaults and may launch a point-of-purchase dock demo to attract attention. When a customer removes the camera from the demo dock, an interactive demo may begin. The demo may instruct the customer how to interact with the demo or end it. Once ended, the camera reverts to normal operation until replaced in the demo dock. Methods of using the dock and digital camera are also disclosed.

摘要： A method and device for adjusting white balance are disclosed herein. The method may comprise generating data representative of an image with and without the use of a strobe. The contribution of the strobe and the contribution of ambient light are on the data are calculated. Based, in part, on the contributions of the ambient light and the strobe, a weight is calculated. The weight is applied to the data in order to adjust the white balance.

摘要： A method for automatically cropping, rotating, and scaling a scanned image to ensure that a printed copy of the scanned image is the same size as the original, when possible. The method attempts to honor the default or operator designated orientation of the printed image, but will automatically rotate the image if that will eliminate unnecessary image reduction. Optimal orientation and scaling factors are automatically determined based on the target page size and the size and shape of the information of interest in the original image (not the boundaries of the original document). The operator selects a desired printed orientation (or accepts a default orientation) and selects a desired printed paper size (or accepts a default printed paper size). If an image will fit within the printable margins without rotation or cropping, the image is simply printed without modification. If the image will fit without rotation by cropping white space, then white space is cropped. If the image with all white space cropped will still not fit, the image is oriented so that long sides on the cropped image align with long sides on the printed paper. If the cropped and rotated image still does not fit, the cropped image is scaled to fit within the printable margins and the image is oriented so that long sides on the cropped image align with long sides on the printed paper.

摘要： A hand-held image capture and communication appliance and method of using same are provided wherein images may be captured and saved in an internal memory. The appliance includes a processor for manipulating and exhibiting the images on a built-in display screen. Program code stored in the internal memory and executed by the processor includes a delete page module for purging the memory of captured images when they are no longer needed. The delete page module includes a code segment for displaying an animation, which, in the preferred embodiment, is designed to convey the concept to the user that a delete operation is irreversible. One implementation of the animation shows the deleted page or group of pages turn into ashes, which is a metaphor for the permanence of the delete operation. A confirmation prompt is provided prior to carrying out the delete operation to inform the user how many pages or images will be deleted and what percentage of memory will be freed. In addition, the confirmation prompt allows further consideration by the user before the delete request is fulfilled.

摘要： A document scanner generates an 8-bit binary word for each picture element (PEL) of a document. One of a group of 256 different binary words is thereby generated in accordance with the image/background content of each document PEL. These scan words vary in magnitude from hexadecimal "00" to "FF", representing a PEL containing only white background, or representing a PEL containing only the most dense black portion of the document's image, respectively. An intensity and/or contrast look-up table memory element, or a computation means, each having 256 addressable locations or inputs, is addressed using the scan words. Each storage location or input is addressed by one of the 256 possible document PEL words. The stored content of each storage location in the look-up table memory element, or the value that is computed by the computation means, comprises an enhanced 8-bit binary word that varies as a function of user selected image intensity and/or contrast enhancement. In this way, each document PEL scan word produces its intensity and/or contrast enhanced equivalent PEL word.
