Abstract: A cymbal mounting assembly that has housing with a constant diameter through hole. A mounting rod of a music stand is to be conducted through the through hole with therebeing a loose fit between the mounting rod and the housing. A cymbal is loosely mounted on the housing so it can freely pivot or rock. The assembly includes a tightening nut with a friction feature included to adjust the amount of clamping force being applied to the cymbal. This friction feature prevents unauthorized adjusting of the rocking or pivoting motion (action) of the cymbal and this preselected amount of action by the drummer is maintained between playing locations and is only changed when the drummer decides to do so.

Abstract: A single unit that is used to support a cymbal on a stanchion and also secure the unit to the stanchion. The cymbal is supported between a pair of soft discs with a nut provided that can be tightened or loosened for the drummer to select how tight the cymbal is secured or how not so tight thereby varying the sound emitted from the cymbal when struck by a drumstick. The unit also has a slotted collet through which the mounting rod of the stanchion is conducted. The exterior surface of the collet is tapered which fits in a tapered cavity in a body. A nut is mounted by threads on the body and when turned on the body will cause the collet to press further into the tapered cavity which will cause the collet to tightly engage with the mounting rod.

Abstract: Musical cymbals are mounted on a tripod stand using a threaded rod which is several inches in length. A conventional nut is then threaded on the rod which has to be turned a multiple number of times until the nut abuts the cymbal thereby securing the cymbal on the rod. Using the slip nut assembly of this invention eliminates this time consuming installation procedure of the nut and similarly eliminates the time consuming uninstalling of the nut when the musician is to move to a different playing location.
