    Abstract: An embodiment provides a method of modifying a computer aided design (CAD) model. Such an embodiment associates metadata with a CAD model. In turn, the metadata is defined which includes providing the metadata in the form of a signal with one or more frequency characteristics that correspond to one or more respective characteristics of the CAD model. These frequencies can be used as part of mapping and/or processing algorithms in labeling or identifying unknown information about an environment. In an embodiment, the metadata may include graphical descriptions of the frequency such as a vector or other image based files.

    Abstract: A system and method updates Computer Aided Design (CAD) models. An augmented reality view of a subject asset is displayed. User interaction therewith causes a CAD model updater to search a CAD database for corresponding CAD model of the subject asset. The CAD model updater displays the CAD model view of the subject asset overlayed on the augmented reality view. With the mashed-up display of these two views, the CAD model updater enables user interaction therewith to update the corresponding CAD model. The updates to the CAD model are made to the CAD file of the model's originating CAD modeling application.

    Abstract: An embodiment of the present invention provides a method of updating a CAD model representing an environment. Such an embodiment begins by generating a point cloud representing one or more objects of an environment based on received signals, where the received signals reflected off the one or more objects of the environment. Next, one or more clusters of the point cloud are identified based on a density of points that includes the one or more clusters. In turn, the one or more clusters are mapped to existing CAD diagrams and a CAD model of the environment is automatically updated using the existing CAD diagrams.

    Abstract: An embodiment provides a method of identifying an object from three-dimensional data of the object. Such an embodiment obtains 3D data of an object and, in turn, flattens the 3D data to produce 2D data of the object. The produced 2D data of the object is then compared to a library of existing 2D data to identify matching 2D object data. The matching 2D object data corresponds to an object and as a result of the comparing, the object represented by the obtained 3D data is identified as being of kind as the matching 2D object. This can be performed iteratively and bi-directionally to identify unidentified objects contained in a 3D environment.
