    摘要: An integrated variable speed compressor drive system for driving a compressor which compresses air from an air source and outputs compressed air. The integrated variable speed compressor drive system includes a hydrostatic transmission coupled to a drive shaft for converting a varying rotational speed of the drive shaft into a first rotational speed. A differential coupled to the hydrostatic transmission and the drive shaft is included in the invention for outputting in response to the varying rotational speed of the drive shaft and the first rotational speed of the hydrostatic transmission, a second rotational speed. The differential is coupled to the compressor and drives the compressor using the second rotational speed. The second rotational speed is related to the first rotational speed output by the hydrostatic transmission. The hydrostatic transmission in response to a control signal supplied thereto varies the first rotational speed to thereby control the second rotational speed which drives the compressor.

    摘要: Redundant components, and their volume and weight, used in on board gas generating systems are avoided in a fully integrated system for generating oxygen enriched air (OEA) and nitrogen enriched air (NEA) for a variety of purposes. A first separator (16) may provide OEA to a second separator (24) directly to provide oxygen for crew consumption or alternatively may provide OEA to a compressor (42) which in turn provides high pressure OEA to storage vessels (70), (72). The separator (16) also provides NEA alternatively to aircraft fuel tanks (60) for inerting them by direct flow or, after being compressed by the compressor (42) to an NEA storage system (50). NEA from the storage system (50) may additionally be used for fuel expulsion in a fuel system (96) associated with an auxiliary power unit/emergency power unit including a hot gas generator (74), the latter also receiving oxidant for the fuel in the form of OEA from one of the OEA storage tanks (72).

    摘要: A rotary machine is provided, such as an electromechanical device, that includes a housing having a lubricating oil disposed within the housing. A shaft is rotatable about an axis relative to the housing. The shaft has a passage extending to an end portion of the shaft. A screw includes a body arranged coaxial to the shaft, and preferably affixed thereto. The screw includes helical blades extending outwardly from the body adjacent to a shroud. The shroud is arranged about the screw forming a gap between the blades and the shroud. Rotation of the shaft and screw pump the oil to the end portion of the shaft and into the passage from which the oil may be delivered to other machine components, such as the bearings. A flow straightener having radial fins may be arranged between the screw and the passage for controlling the flow of oil into the passage preventing a vortex.

    摘要: The hydraulic components of a cooling circuit for a dynamoelectric machine are eliminated in a totally air cooled dynamoelectric machine which includes a rotor (12) rotatable about an axis (14) and including a central stack (20) of ferrous laminations (22) defining a plurality of radially outwardly directed circumferentially spaced poles (132), spaced shaft ends (24,26) on the axis (14) and extending from opposite sides of the stack (20) and a first air passage (46) in the stack (20). Magnetic journal bearings (54,56) and a magnetic thrust bearing (58,60) are provided for the shaft segments (24,26) and impellers (62) are located on opposite sides of the stack (20). A stator (16) surrounds the rotor (12) and includes windings (76) connected by end turns (94) located exteriorally of the stator (16). Axial winding coolant passages (152,158) are provided adjacent the windings (76) in the stator and radial passages (70,72) are located in the rotor and the stator and in fluid communication with an outlet (74) from the housing. Rotor coolant passages (130) are located in the stack (20) and all of the passages receive air from the impellers (62).

A pair of spaced shaft segments (24,26) engage respective ones of the clamping pieces (52) and a single tie bolt (32) extends through the sleeve (112) between the shaft segments (24,26) to interconnect the same. The tie bolt is in tension to apply clamping force to the shaft segments (24,26) for transmittal to the clamp pieces (52) to the laminations (22) in the stack (20).

    摘要: Losses in efficiency of operation of a dynamoelectric machine as a result of eddy current losses and poor coolant efficiency and/or disruption of the magnetic circuit in a rotor by coolant passages is avoided in a dynamoelectric machine including a stator (18) in which a rotor (16) is journaled. The rotor includes a stack (16) of thin laminations (17) made of a ferromagnetic material to define a rotor body. The rotor body includes a plurality of equally angularly spaced poles (58) separated by recesses (64). Coolant passages (76) located in the rotor at or just radially inward of the base (72) of each pole (58) and substantially radially outward of the rotational axis (56) of the rotor (14) to maximize cooling efficiency of the poles (58) without disrupting the magnetic circuit in the rotor. Slots (80) are placed in the tips (70) of the poles (58) of selected laminations (17) and extend generally radially inward to reduce eddy current losses.
