摘要： An optical device for detecting the printing media in printers includes an element pivoting on two rotation pivots which are incorporated therein a certain distance apart and which are guided in respective independent curved grooves. The pivoting element includes two extensions which point outwards from the central portion of the element, and of which one is intended to receive, at its front and rear edges, the end edges of the laminar printing media during its forward and rearward movements towards and away from the input rollers of the laminar substrate in the printer. The second extension of the pivoting element can move into and out of an opening of the optical detector in a manner corresponding to the rotary movements of the pivoting element brought about by the movements of the printing media. The pivoting element of the detector is located in a position such that the extension on which the printing media is intended to act establishes contact with the face of the printing media opposite to that which receives the printing.

摘要： A controller controls a first heating stage to heat a printing medium to a first temperature in a printing region when printing latex ink on the printing medium, and controls a second heating stage to heat the printing medium to a second temperature greater than the first temperature in a curing region to cure the latex ink on the medium. The controller controls a cooling stage located between the first and second heating stages to cool the printing medium after the printing medium has been heated by the first heating stage and prior to heating of the printing medium by the second heating stage.

In one embodiment, a tension module for wide format inkjet printers is described which includes a throughput roller comprising a material having a length to diameter ratio of at least 10:1 and a friction coefficient value less than 1. The tension module further includes a plurality of pinch rollers adjacent to and supporting the throughput roller, and a motor operable to rotate the throughput roller. The plurality of pinch rollers and the rotation of the throughput roller in combination are operable to draw the print medium between the plurality of pinch rollers and the throughput roller.

摘要： A removable rollfeed apparatus, adapted to be rigidly attached to a printer, holds a roll of media and is mountable on the underside of the printer. The attachment to the underside of the printer allows a desk-mountable printer to rest on the rollfeed apparatus and thus to be raised away from the desk. In an embodiment the rollfeed apparatus itself has feet which are utilized in place of any feet mounted directly on the printer and extends to the front of the printer so that the media shaft is held in front of and below the printer. Furthermore there is provided a printer having mounting positions on the underside of the printer for mounting i) feet on which the printer may rest on a desktop, ii) legs on which the printer may rest on a floor, and iii) rollfeed apparatus. This enables both desktop and freestanding printers to quickly and easily be configured with or without a rollfeed apparatus.
