摘要: A method of detecting missing fragments and idle links in a link bundle for a multilink protocol, and devices provisioned with program instructions for performing the method, employs a plurality of masks to track the links in the bundle that are active. Idle links are excluded from a determination about whether buffer cleanup should be run in order to reduce unnecessary buffer usage caused by orphaned fragments.

摘要: Communication traffic isolation and control systems and methods are disclosed. Communication traffic streams are received and either passed or filtered by respective controllable filtering modules. The operation of the filtering modules is controlled on a per-module and thus a per-stream basis, responsive to congestion of filtered communication traffic streams at a communication traffic processing element to which the filtering modules are connected. Per-stream filtering provides traffic control for each communication traffic stream, and maintains isolation between the streams. Statistics associated with communication traffic filtered out of each stream may be collected, and possibly aggregated.

摘要: Electronic device configuration management systems and methods are disclosed. Configuration information for configuring at least one component of an electronic device is stored in a memory. A determination is made as to whether further configuration information capable of configuring the at least one component is available at the electronic device. Based on the determination, one of the configuration information and the further configuration information is loaded to configure the at least one component. The determination may be made, for example, by accessing compatibility information which is associated with the configuration information. Data structures supporting configuration management functions are also disclosed.

摘要: A method of detecting loopbacks on trunks in digital networks, comprises the steps of detecting an out-of-service trunk, continually placing a predetermined bit pattern on an outgoing channel of a trunk card, continually monitoring a receive channel of the trunk card to detect said bit pattern, and identifying the presence of a loopback when said bit pattern is persistently detected on the receive channel. This method avoids the need to dedicate a trunk channel for signaling purposes. By detecting the presence of loopbacks, intelligent networks can be prevented from unjustifiably clearing an alarm condition and returning traffic to a fault path.

摘要: An apparatus for controlling the transfer of communication traffic to an interface having a group of links comprises a detector for detecting the sizes of data units to be transferred to the interface, and a controller for causing data units to be transferred to the interface, wherein the controller is operative to select the link to which to transfer a data unit based on the detected size. The group of links includes a reference link that is used as an overflow to receive data units when other member links are full, and when the reference link is not used in its overflow capacity, the controller is operative to bias selection of the links to which to transfer data units towards the other links relative to the reference link.
