The embodiments include a simple bar (2), a deluxe prison bar (4), a rodded bar (6) with ceramic rod segments (68), and a shackle (8) with fish-spline links (78). Additional metallic and ceramic layered components are also provided.

A locking system for beverage taps (10) is provided for use with conventional beverage faucets (12) such as those utilized to dispense kegged beer and the like. The system (10) incorporates an elongated valve stem (14) which protrudes from the proximal end (38) of the faucet body (12) and is provided with an axial end bore (66) having pin threads (68) therein. A lock subassembly (18) actuated by a key (20) attaches to the valve stem (14) by a threaded driver pin (118) which engages the pin threads (66). A case cylinder (80) encloses the engagement position and overlaps a portion of the faucet body (12) such that antirotation ears (113) prevent relative rotation and loosening of the engagement except when the key (20) is utilized. When tightened, the lock subassembly (18) forces the valve stem (14) into a closed position, preventing opening of the faucet and dispensing of beverages.

A combination charging unit and portable, hand-held transceiver which includes a latch mechanism operable to effect an electrical connection between the charging circuit in the charging unit and the rechargeable power supply in the transceiver automatically upon insertion of the transceiver into the charging unit. The latch mechanism causes insertion of plug connectors on the charging unit into mating connectors in the transceiver in a direction which is perpendicular to the axis of insertion of the transceiver into the charging unit. The latch mechanism prevents damage to the plug connectors by exerting a predetermined constant insertion force, independent of the force employed to seat the transceiver into the charging unit, in mating the plug connectors. The latch mechanism includes a release lever which provides a mechanical advantage to the operator during the initial portion of its release movement thus compensating for the gripping effect of the plugs with their mating connectors.

The device (10) includes a base plate (12) that is screwed onto a door frame (14), a first hinge plate (16) that is connected to the base plate (12) at a first hinge joint (56), a second hinge plate (18) that is similarly connected to the first hinge plate (16) at a second hinge joint (64), and a door plate (20) that is mounted on the door (22) and which incorporates a pair of hinge ears (92 and 94) between which is received a uniquely shaped hinge tongue (90) that is present at the end of the second hinge plate (18). A latch pin (24) that is also uniquely shaped, is insertable, when the door (22) is in a closed position, into ear bores (104 and 106) and a tongue bore (102) that are present within the hinge ears (92 and 94) and hinge tongue (90) to form a third hinge joint (108). The shape of the hinge tongue (90) and the interaction thereof with a biasing ramp (96) lying between the hinge ears (92 and 94) is such that as the door (22) is opened and the hinge tongue (90) rotates, the ear bores (104 and 106) and tongue bore (102) are forced out of axial alignment. When this occurs, a narrow barrel portion (134) of the latch pin (24) still permits hinging action, while upper and lower stops (130 and 132) present on the latch pin (24) provide that the latch pin (24) is locked into place, thereby preventing removal of the latch pin (24) by an intruder.

A mobile radio programmed to analyze idle channel assignments issued by a repeater station and select different channels, if appropriate, which are especially adapted for communicating with other communication facilities, such as a telephone interconnect. Programmed into the mobile radio with each communication channel is an indication of whether or not such channel can be utilized to communicate with the other communication facility. If communications are desired with the other communication facility, and if the present idle channel assigned by the repeater station does not permit such communication, then a processor in the mobile radio consults a data list of appropriate channels, selects one such channel, and then establishes communications to the other communication facility on such channel.
