Abstract:
The present invention describes the activity of a dicot wound inducible promoter in a monocot plant, the use of a monocot intron to enhance the activity of a dicot promoter in a transgenic monocot, and genetic constructs to introduce an exogenous genetic trait into a monocot plant using a wound inducible dicot promoter system.
Abstract:
The present invention describes the genomic nucleotide sequence of, and isolation of a strong intron-dependent promoter for, rice actin genes.
Abstract:
The current invention provides regulatory regions from the rice actin 2 gene. In particular, the current invention provides the rice actin 2 promoter and actin 2 intron. Compositions comprising these sequences are described, as well as transformation constructs derived therefrom. Further provided are methods for the expression of transgenes in plants comprising the use of these sequences. The methods of the invention include the direct creation of transgenic plants with the rice actin 2 intron and/or promoter directly by genetic transformation, as well as by plant breeding methods. The actin 2 sequences of the invention represent a valuable new tool for the creation of transgenic plants, preferably having one or more added beneficial characteristics.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods of constructing non-redundant, indexed, saturation, gene-disruption genomic libraries in plants and animals. The invention also relates to gene-disruption transformation plasmids for use in the method. The present invention also relates to plants, animals, and vertebrate and invertebrate cells transformed with such plasmids.
Abstract:
A security system detects intrusive activities in and around a vehicle and transmits warnings specifically describing the intrusions through a wireless telephone network to the owner's designated contacts. In response to the intrusion warnings, the vehicle owner or designees can establish remote wireless communication with the security system and obtain further information on the intrusion or initiate counter-measures to thwart an incipient theft.
