    Abstract: A display device includes a back-board type member and a support mechanism engageable thereto. A plurality of mounting rails are releasably securable to such back-board type member on at least one of a front side, a back side, and a combination thereof such that each rail runs at least one of side to side and top to bottom across such back-board type member. A securing mechanism has a first portion engageable with such back-board type member and a second portion engageable with such plurality of mounting rails for releasably securing such mounting rails to such back-board type member such that at least a predetermined portion of at least one predetermined item may at least one of sit on at least a portion of at least one of such mounting rails, releasably slide behind at least a portion of at least one of such mounting rails and a combination thereof.

    Abstract: An audio shoe includes a shoe top attached to a sole, and a channel extending into the sole from a side edge thereof. A speaker attached to a housing is positioned inside the channel. The speaker is oriented with its axis in a vertical position. A slot is provided between the front of the speaker and the side edge of the sole to enable sound to escape. The diameter of the speaker may be up to the width of the sole, which is large enough to provide improved sound volume and quality. In a first embodiment, the housing includes audio circuitry and user controls. In a second embodiment, a separate audio module is attached to the shoe top, and connected to the speaker with a cable. In a third embodiment, curved vertical supports extend between the top and bottom walls of the channel to provide additional shock absorption. In a fourth embodiment, a mesh is provided across the opening of the channel for shielding the speaker from dirt and water. In a fifth embodiment, a mesh is provided across the opening of the channel, and a sliding door attached to the side edge of the heel may be slid over the mesh to completely seal out dirt and water.

    Abstract: A taxi trip meter system includes a taximeter and a location sensor connected to a computer loaded with street information and driver evaluation software. In a first embodiment, the estimated shortest route and distance between the starting and ending points of a trip are determined. If the estimated shortest trip distance is exceeded by an actual trip distance by a permissible margin, a distance violation is indicated. An actual average speed is calculated based on an actual trip duration and the actually traveled distance. If an estimated average speed limit for the actual route is exceeded by the actual average speed, a speed violation is indicated. In a second embodiment, an estimated taxi fare is calculated based on the estimated shortest route. If the estimated taxi fare is exceeded by an actual taxi fare calculated by the taximeter by a permissible margin, a fare violation is indicated.

    Abstract: A taximeter penalty device includes a cabin temperature sensor connected to a micro-controller of a taximeter through a time delay. When the cabin temperature of the taxi is within a preset range, the fare is based on a normal rate. When the temperature is outside the range, such as when the cabin is too hot or cold, a lower rate is used. An alternative fare calculation method includes subtracting a penalty from the normal rate. A grace period is provided by the time delay, so that the taxi driver can adjust the temperature to avoid the penalty. The taximeter penalty device thus induces the taxi driver to provide better service.

    Abstract: An infant monitoring device includes a sensor connected to an alarm for alerting a parent when an infant is in a predetermined position.
