摘要: A hollow elliptical-cylindrical hull conformingly houses a hollow rectangular-prismatic cabin whereby the four longitudinal parallel outside edges of the latter make contact with the inside surface of the former. The fully constructed aircraft (either non-powered or powered) includes the integral hull-plus-cabin structure along with nose, tail and airfoil structures that are coupled therewith. The cabin conformingly accommodates hollow rectangular-prismatic modules useful for cargo storage. While the nose and/or tail structure is uncoupled from the integral hull-plus-cabin structure, the modules are inserted into the cabin and the cabin is sealed. The aircraft is lifted (e.g., via airplane, helicopter, rocket or balloon) to a particular elevation and released, whereupon the two wings fully emerge and the aircraft effects controlled flight until reaching its destination. After landing, the nose and/or tail structure is uncoupled from the integral hull-plus-cabin structure, the cabin is unsealed, and the modules are removed from the cabin.

摘要: Vibration-damping layers are stored as a continuous elongated strap in cod condition for supply to subsequently fabricated structural products. Such strap is formed from high modulus layer constrainment segments encapsulated within a viscoelastic material contributing to establishment of the vibration-damping property and flexure of the strap between the segments thereof to accommodate coiling during storage. The strap is uncoiled from its storage condition during a supply phase to a preselected surface of the fabricated structural product.

摘要: The invention relates to an impregnation and processing technique for dry fiber composite preform net shapes and ensures maximum mechanical properties in finished structural fiber reinforced composite parts especially in water, and results in composite parts with a low internal void content. The proposed process is not dependent on any pumping action whether due to vacuum or positive pressure to cause the resin to flow into and around the skeletal structure of the dry fiber preform. The process is essentially dependent on the concept of gravity flow in a sandwiched apparatus wherein neat resin cast sheets are placed on both faces of a dry fiber preform shape to create a prepregged (i.e., infiltrated) structure.

摘要: A damage assessment system consisting of a three-dimensional grid of opti fibers for locating and assessing damage in plastic composite structures. A optical fiber grid system is implanted in a composite structure during its fabrication and becomes integrated with it. The optical fiber grid experiences an identical load/damage condition as the structure itself. Using a system of interrogation based on optoelectronics, passage or continuity of light throughout the system can be monitored for light attenuation or interruption. Highly stressed fibers would attenuate light while broken fibers would interrupt or hinder light transmission. By monitoring a number of optical fiber ends, the extent of damage in three dimensions can be determined.

摘要: A light-weight door panel flush with the external surface of a wall structure in its closed position sealing an opening, is mounted for displacement to an open position by hinge linkage confined to its underside. In its closed position supported on the bulkhead of the door frame bordering the opening in the wall structure, the door panel compresses a sealing gasket bonded to the bulkhead. Such compression of the gasket by the door panel is established and maintained through selectively controlled rolling pins engaged with wedges resiliently held within corrosion resistant inserts bonded to the door panel at spaced peripheral locations therein.

摘要: A modular louver system is disclosed which utilizes a series of joined frames having the same basic cross section, a series of spacers, and a series of louver vanes having the same v shaped cross section. The frames have a t-shaped channel, with inwardly facing channel lips defining the narrow portion of the t-shaped channel. The louver vanes have a dovetail at each end, where the dovetail neck will fit in the area defined by the inwardly facing channel lips. In addition, the spacers are shaped so that they will rest in the t-shaped channel and will either separate the louver vanes from each other or from an adjacent frame. The louver vane dovetails are inserted in the t-shaped channels of opposing frames, with at least one spacer inserted in the t-shaped channels to separate the louver vanes from each other and from an adjacent frame. Where rectangular connection is desired, the frames are connected either using a clip joint arrangement. Where the modular louver system uses rounded corners, a corner frame is used to allow for a rounded edge.
