Alternatively, the housing includes a directional antenna, an adjustment mechanism, and a connector, which couples the directional antenna to an external modem. The adjustment mechanism may be an adjustment knob for the directional antenna within the housing or a rotatable turntable used to support and rotate the entire housing, including the directional antenna.

When a second frequency band is acquired for the base station's geographic region, a duplexer can be added to the base station. In systems with consecutive frequency channels, half-channel frequency reuse can be provided between channels employed by different cells. Specifically, two channels in two proximately located cells can overlap within the frequency spectrum by one-half of the frequency of a channel. Half-channel overlap can increase frequency reuse, and in turn, system capacity.

    摘要: Methods and apparatuses for determining uplink receive signal path characteristics in a wireless communication system are disclosed. In one embodiment, a tower-top noise source (TTNS) is provided such that it is permanently affixed in close proximity to a receive antenna. The TTNS preferably has an output that includes a wideband noise signal having predetermined characteristics. The TTNS output is selectively connected to a receive signal path that includes a tower-top low-noise amplifier (TTLNA). An altered version of the wideband noise signal is received at the output of the receive signal path, and a characteristic of the altered wideband noise signal is measured.

Three frequencies are allocated per cell site, with each sector employing two frequencies, one frequency being transmitted at a higher power and the second frequency being transmitted at a lower power. The higher power frequency in one sector differs from the higher power frequency employed in the other two sectors, and the lower power frequency used in one sector differs from the lower power frequency used in the other two sectors.
