摘要: An apparatus for supporting an object includes a base assembly and at least three wheels pivotally attached to the base assembly. A pivot arm includes a flange plate at an upper end for attachment to the object. An opposite lower end of the pivot arm includes a universal joint for pivotal motion about two perpendicular axes that is attached to the base assembly. A brake assembly is attached to the pivot arm. The brake assembly includes a first disengaged position and a second engaged position that is latched. When the brake assembly is in the second position, a brake pad is forced downward below a level of a surface and into frictional engagement with the surface. More than one apparatus can also be attached to an adapter plate to provide greater floatation. Pivotal attachment to a support beam is also described.

摘要: A track wheel for moving an object across a surface having a non-planar obstruction to allow smoother, easier and safer movement of the object over the obstruction. The track wheel has a track frame, a first wheel assembly, a second wheel assembly and a fluid-filled track assembly. The track frame interconnects the two wheel assemblies. The track assembly encircles the two wheel assemblies and frame in an endless loop manner. A mounting assembly connects the track frame to the object. The track assembly has a track link assembly and a pair of dampener tubes in the track link assembly. The track assembly passes into and out of a shield of the wheel assemblies that cleans the track assembly.

摘要: A wheel pad for moving an object across a surface having non-planar obstructions to allow movement of the object across the surface. The wheel pad has a contact pad and a load bearing assembly. The contact pad has an outer skin enclosing a fluid and a torus bearing. The torus bearing has a plurality of bearings, with each adjacent bearing rotatably joined by a connector that allows the bearings to independently rotate. The load bearing assembly has a load transfer mechanism and a load transfer device. The load transfer mechanism has a plurality of recirculating bearings moveably positioned inside a ball chamber. The load transfer device interacts with, but moves independently of, the load transfer mechanism to transfer the weight of the object to the contact pad, which weight is transferred to a lower surface thereof by the fluid and torus bearing to provide omnidirectional movement for the wheel pad.

The wheel float has a pair of walking beam assemblies, a crosstube assembly having a crosstube interconnecting the walking beam assemblies, a pedestal supported by the crosstube and a center pivot assembly that allows the crosstube assembly to pivot relative to the pedestal. The pedestal has a support surface that supports the object above the walking beam assemblies. Each walking beam assembly has a base plate, wheeled casters, a pair of spaced apart hangers and a bushing assembly associated with an articulation opening in each of the hangers. Pivot members at the ends of the crosstube assembly engage the hanger bushings to allow the respective walking beam assembly to pivot relative to the crosstube. Thrust blocks or locating plates position the walking beam assemblies on the crosstube assembly.

摘要: An articulating carriage for moving an object across a surface having a non-planar obstruction to allow movement of the object over the obstruction. The articulating carriage has a walking beam assembly that pivotally supports a pedestal to dispose a support surface thereof above the walking beam assembly. The walking beam assembly has a base plate, wheeled casters and a pair of spaced apart hangers having articulation openings. The walking beam pivots relative to the pedestal. In one embodiment, the pedestal is pivotally mounted on the walking beam assembly. In another embodiment, a pair of walking beam assemblies are connected with a crosstube that pivotally supports the pedestal. In another embodiment, a major crosstube assembly connects a pair of crosstubes to define a carriage having four walking beams. In yet another embodiment, a compound crosstube assembly connects pairs of major crosstube assemblies to define a carriage having eight walking beams.

摘要: An apparatus for supporting an object includes a base assembly and at least three wheels pivotally attached to the base assembly. A pivot arm includes a flange plate at an upper end for attachment to the object. An opposite lower end of the pivot arm includes a universal joint for pivotal motion about two perpendicular axes that is attached to the base assembly. A brake assembly is attached to the pivot arm. The brake assembly includes a first disengaged position and a second engaged position that is latched. When the brake assembly is in the second position, a brake pad is forced downward below a level of a surface and into frictional engagement with the surface. More than one apparatus can also be attached to an adapter plate to provide greater floatation. Pivotal attachment to a support beam is also described.

The apparatus is particularly useful for securing and moving objects that are moveably supported on the surface by a wheel assembly, such as a caster, carriage and wheel float. The apparatus attaches to or is integral with a wheel assembly, an object or an item associated with the object. The apparatus has a wheeled action arm assembly, a reaction arm and a plurality of levers, links and pedals that are pivotally connected to the action arm assembly and reaction arm that allow the user to select whether the apparatus will allow safe, easy movement of an object or whether the object will be safely and effectively secured on a surface. The user selects the braking or steering operation and operates the controls using one of his or her feet.

摘要: An articulated caster is described which provides a base having more than two casters attached thereto and disposed radially away from the approximate geometric center of the base. A pivot arm includes a pivot housing for receiving and maintaining a pivot ball therein. The pivot housing and pivot ball respectively each are provided with a pivot housing hole and a pivot ball hole which align together when the pivot ball is correctly disposed within the pivot housing. The pivot arm is pivotally attached to the base about a point that is disposed within the pivot ball by a shaft passing through the pivot ball hole, the pivot housing hole, and a pair of holes formed in opposing side walls of the base. According to a preferred modification, an angled slot is provided that is disposed in at least one side of the pivot housing having a width approximately equal to the diameter of the pivot ball hole. The angled slot is preferably disposed so that the bottom thereof is generally in closer proximity to a front of the base than is the top of the angled slot. The shaft passes through and cooperates with the angled slot so that the side to side pivotal motion of the pivot arm with respect to the front of the base is limited to the motion by the shaft within the area as defined by the angled slot.
