    摘要: An improved bearing mount sleeve and method of making same. The sleeve has a radial flange and body portion projecting therefrom. First and second shoulders in the body portion seat large and small bearings respectively. Crush ribs apply radial preloading and wave washers apply axial preloading. The sleeve is located by tabs on its flange and a locating element projecting from the end opposite the flange A series of drawing steps result in the sleeve form and piercing and forming steps complete the sleeve at economic advantage.

    摘要: A rotatable member is adapted for dynamic balancing by the addition of balancing weights in the form of high speed projectiles fired at the member during rotation in timed relationship with the rotation of the member so as to impact the member at specific circumaxial locations required for balancing the member. The member has an annular groove for receiving the projectiles and securing the same at the desired locations. The groove has a cross sectional configuration slightly smaller than that of the projectile in at least one direction of measurement so as to engage and capture the projectile in retention in the groove.

    摘要: A method is provided for balancing a rotating member having an annular balancing groove which is configured to receive and retain a balancing projectile. The method includes determining a circumaxial imbalance location, and firing a balancing projectile in timed relationship with the rotation of the member so that the balancing projectile enters the groove at the imbalance location. Such steps are repeated as required to cure additional points of imbalance.

    摘要: A method of forming an adhesive joint, a structural subassembly, and a joint construction. The method comprises telescopically assembling male and female tubular members having slightly different diameters to cooperatively define a narrow continuous open-end adhesive chamber between contiguous surfaces of the assembled members. Four (4) or more centering pins equally circumaxially spaced about the members are forcefully entered in the adhesive chambers to equalize spacing between the members throughout the chamber. A distributing device communicates with the adhesive chamber for the introduction of adhesive under pressure to the chamber, thus forming a secure joint.In a fabrication method for a structural subassembly at least three (3) tubular structural members are loosely assembled with three (3) joint members each having at least two cups. Centering pins are forcefully introduced between contiguous surfaces of the members and cups and a distribution device encloses the open end of the adhesive chamber. Adhesive is then introduced between the contiguous surfaces of the members to form secure joints throughout.A joint construction is produced in the practice of the method of the invention.
