    摘要: A method for determining a heading value of a marine vessel includes determining a first estimate of a direction of the marine vessel based on information from a first source and determining a second estimate of a direction of the marine vessel based on information from a second source. The method includes inputting the first estimate and the second estimate to a control circuit, which scales each of the first estimate and the second estimate and adds the scaled estimates together so as to determine the heading value. A system for determining a heading value of a marine vessel is also disclosed.

    摘要: Several methods of increasing the thrust and energy efficiency of charged particle jet engines operating in a gaseous or liquid medium have been developed. We identify the three main components of charged particle thrust generation and provide means to take maximum advantage of each. We also describe several methods to reduce the energy associated with the generation of charged particles and to minimize the number of charged particles needed to further increase energy efficiency. In addition to the methods used to increase thrust and energy efficiency, we have also developed several methods of efficiently controlling the amount and direction of thrust. Finally, we show many uses of these charged particle jet engines and ways to control them.

    摘要: A detection system and method for a marine vessel uses an infrared sensor to detect the presence of a human being or mammal in a target area near the propulsor. A visible light detector is used to determine whether or not a signal received from the infrared sensor is caused by reflected sunlight and not the actual presence of a human being or mammal. By detecting visible light, false triggering of the system in response to infrared radiation received from sunlight can be significantly reduced. Embodiments of the system can monitor gear position and engine speed in combination with signals received from the infrared sensor and visible light sensors to determine an appropriate action to take in response to the presence of infrared radiation above a preselected threshold.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an improved apparatus used for moving gases or air in a single stage for the purposes of either causing a vacuum upstream as in vacuum pumps or high-pressure downstream as in industrial blowers, turbochargers for automotive engines, ducted fan propulsion devices, and compressors for gas turbines. In this improved concept, two matching sets of rotor vanes are paired, rotating in the same direction, without a stator between them, having continuous and progressive pitch angles, the same number of blades, and designed to complement each other. Therefore, the turbo apparatus can yield extreme high-pressure ratios at high flow rates.
