    Abstract: An electronic ignition system for an internal combustion engine. The system includes an ignition coil provided with at least a primary winding and a secondary winding, a switch connected to the primary winding and drivable to be in an opened and/or closed position according to a value of a driving signal, a control unit associated to the switch and configured to drive the switch to be in the open position and/or closed position according to the value of the driving signal (G). The system may also include current detection means associated with the secondary winding, in which the control unit is associated with the detection means for receiving a signal representative of at least a current value in the secondary winding, and configured to control the switch according to said signal.

    Abstract: An electronic ignition system for an internal combustion engine comprises an ignition coil (2) provided with at least a primary winding (3) and a secondary winding (4), a switch (6) connected to the primary winding (3) and drivable in an open and/or closed position according to the value of a driving signal, a control unit (7) associated to the switch (6) and configured to drive it in open and/or closed position according to the value of the driving signal (G). Such system also comprises a voltage changing electronic element (8) connected to the electrical connection (5), operatively interposed between the electrical connection (5) and the primary winding (3), and configured to change the voltage value of the primary winding (3) according to the value of a control signal between at least a first (V1) and a second (V2) voltage value. The system also comprises a ionization measuring device (20) around said discharge gap (100a) of the spark plug (100) associated with the secondary winding (4) and arranged to detect a current value in the secondary winding (4) and to send a signal representative of said value to the control unit (7), wherein the control unit (7) is configured to activate said measuring device (20) upon the shutdown of the electric arc or spark.

    Abstract: A method for heating an exhaust pipe in a motor vehicle, including a plurality of spark cycles performed in succession at a preset frequency, wherein each spark cycle includes injecting a-preset fuel quantity into an injection area inside of an exhaust pipe in a motor vehicle and generating at least one spark between the ends of a pair of electrodes located in proximity to the injection area in order to start combustion.
    Thus, a value of an ionization current flowing between the ends of the pair of electrodes is detected following the extinction of the spark and this ionization current value is compared with a preset reference value.
    Therefore, the presence of combustion in the spark cycle is determined, if the ionization current value is greater than the preset reference value, or the absence of combustion in the spark cycle, if the ionization current value is lower than the preset reference value.

    Abstract: It is disclosed an electronic device to control an ignition coil of an internal combustion engine comprising a high-voltage switch, a driving unit, a bias circuit and an integrating circuit. The high-voltage switch is connected in series with a primary winding of a coil. The driving unit is configured to control the closing and opening of the high-voltage switch. The integrating circuit is interposed between the bias circuit and a reference voltage. The integrating circuit comprises an integrating capacitor. The integrating capacitor is configured, in the case wherein a pre-ignition of the comburent-combustible mixture in the combustion chamber during the phase of charging occurs, to pre-charge during the phase of charging energy in the primary winding and it is configured, in the case wherein the pre-ignition of the comburent-combustible mixture does not occur, to maintain the charge state substantially constant during the phase of charging energy.

    Abstract: It is disclosed an electronic device to control an ignition coil of an internal combustion engine, comprising a high-voltage switch, a driving unit, a bias circuit and an integrating circuit.     Abstract: An electronic device for controlling an ignition coil of an internal combustion engine includes a high voltage switch, a driving unit and a control unit. The driving unit controls the closure of the switch during charging energy in the primary winding and the opening of the switch during transferring energy from the primary winding to a secondary winding. A current measuring circuit is connected in series to a second terminal of the secondary winding to detect current generated on the secondary winding during the charging step and generate a signal representative of the detected current. The control unit receives the signal representative of the current detected by the measuring circuit, compares a relevant value of such signal with a predefined first reference value and activates a mode for detecting a soiling of the spark plug when the relevant value of the signal exceeds said predefined first reference value.

    Abstract: An electronic ignition system for an internal combustion engine. The system includes a coil having a primary winding with a first terminal and a second terminal and a secondary winding connected to a spark plug. A high voltage switch is serially connected to the primary winding. A control terminal carries a control signal to control the opening or closing of the high voltage switch. A first switch is interposed between a battery voltage and the first terminal of the primary winding, a second switch is interposed between the first terminal of the primary winding and a reference voltage, a third switch is interposed between the second terminal of the primary winding and said reference voltage. A driving unit is configured to generate signals to control the switches during a charging phase, during a transfer of energy phase, and during a measure phase of ionization current.
