Abstract: This invention relates to a combined surface treating and polishing and suction cleaning apparatus having rotatable brushes movable over a surface. A movable control shutter in a first position covers an opening in the air passageway of the suction cleaning component of the apparatus so that it will operate properly as a suction cleaner. When the control shutter is in its first position mechanism for dispensing liquid wax from a container onto the surface is rendered inoperable. When the control shutter is in its first position a vessel for holding a body of liquid treating agent cannot be removably mounted on the apparatus for dispensing such liquid onto the surface. In the second position of the control shutter the opening in the passageway of the suction cleaning component is uncovered so that atmospheric air will be drawn into the air passageway by a fan and the apparatus cannot operate properly as a suction cleaner. When the control shutter is in its second position the mechanism for dispensing liquid wax from its container is rendered operable. When the control shutter is in its second position the vessel for the liquid treating agent can be removably mounted on the apparatus for dispensing such agent onto the surface. The mechanism for dispensing wax from its container and the mechanism for dispensing liquid treating agent from the vessel include parts which are common to both mechanisms, such parts operating in one way to dispense liquid wax from its container when the vessel for liquid treating agent is not mounted on the apparatus and operating in another way to dispense liquid treating agent from the vessel when it is mounted on the apparatus.

Abstract: THIS INVENTION RELATES TO EQUIPMENT FOR INDICATING A PREDETERMINED PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN GASEOUS FLUIDS AT LOW AND HIGHER PRESSURES. A HOLLOW SLEEVE OF CONICAL FORM HAS AN INNER TAPERED WALL. THE LARGE END OF THE HOLLOW SLEEVE IS IN COMMUNICATION WITH THE GASEOUS FLUID AT THE HIGHER PRESSURE AND ITS SMALL END IS IN COMMUNICATION WITH THE GASESOUS FLUID AT THE LOW PRESSURE. A MOVABLE MEMBER OF CONICAL FORM, WHICH HAS A TAPERED OUTER WALL, IS DISPOSED WITHIN THE HOLLOW SLEEVE WITH THE SMALL END OF THE MEMBER AT THE SMALL END OF THE SLEEVE. THE MEMBER, WHICH IS SPRING BIASED FROM THE SMALL END OF THE SLEEVE, HAS A SIGNALLING SYSTEM PART MOUNTED THEREON. THE PART AND MEMBER ARE IN ONE POSITION WITH RESPECT TO THE SLEEVE WHEN THE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE GASEOUS FLUIDS IS LESS THAN A PREDETERMINED VALUE AND IN A SECOND POSITION WITH RESPECT TO THE SLEEVE WHEN THE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE GASEOUS FLUIDS IS AT THE PREDETERMINED VALUE. THE RELATIVE POSITION OF THE PART AND MEMBER WITH RESPECT TO THE SLEEVE IS DEPENDENT UPON THE VELOCITY OF AIR FLOWING FROM THE LARGE TO THE SMALL END OF THE SLEEVE THROUGH A GAP BETWEEN THE SLEEVE AND MEMBER. THE PART IN ITS SECOND POSITION SIGNALS THAT THE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL BETWEEN THE GASEOUS FLUIDS IS AT THE PREDETERMINED VALUE.
