Abstract:
A rectangular hydraulic load cell having a length greater than its width to maintain substantial acting area for high load capacity in narrow locations. The force is transmitted from a load bearing column to a steel diaphragm over the oil reservoir with four bridging members having precise 45* cuts at their ends to reduce friction as the bridging members move under load. Pivot strips with hardened pivot wires are provided which bear upon the upper surface of the bridging members. For precise lateral positioning of the cell column, spacer strips are secured to the casing around the bridging members to form a rectangular lateral bearing surface for the bridging members.
Abstract:
An hydraulic load cell of the piston-cylinder type capable of withstanding high levels of cross loading. The piston and cylinder carrying members are assembled about roller bearings for free relative axial and angular telescopic movement. The cell is also provided with a flexible diaphragm which is extended over the roller bearings and secured to form an integral dust jacket, and with a sliding load head structure to absorb lateral thrust.
Abstract:
A hydraulic load cell of simplified construction has an upper lateral support structure for the piston which eliminates the need for clamping rings and bolts. The support structure comprises an upper bridge ring disposed between the cylinder and piston members and held by integral flanges on said members. The upper bridge ring, and the lower bridge ring where used, may each be provided with arcuate edges to improve cell accuracy. The cell may also be provided with a supplementary shield against contamination and a simplified loading head structure.
Abstract:
A piston-cylinder type load cell for the measurement of tension loads. The piston and cooperating cylinder portions are ringshaped and surround an open central passage through the cell which accommodates a simple, external tension loading member. The piston and cylinder carrying members may be assembled about roller bearings for free relative axial and angular telescopic movement even under high-cross loads. The cell may also be provided with a flexible diaphragm which extends over the roller bearings and is secured to form an integral dust jacket.
