Abstract: Refrigerated display equipment is provided with a refrigerated space having an access opening for customers at the front thereof together with separate air duct means through which air is passed from inner and outer return air inlets to inner and outer air discharge means for establishing an air curtain moving across said front access opening and embodying at least two layers of air at least the inner one of which layers is refrigerated air. The equipment is further provided with an access opening for service personnel at the rear of the refrigerated space and the air duct means through which air is passed from the return air inlets to the air discharge means each include a portion which is located adjacent the access opening at the rear of the refrigerated space.

Abstract: The method of making a refrigeration evaporator or condenser construction wherein the ends of preferably aluminum tubes which have been extended through heat exchange plates or fins in a refrigeration evaporator or condenser construction are joined with U-bend connectors, said method comprising forming radial internal beads near the ends of the tubes to be connected to provide stops for the ends of the U-bend connectors which are of lesser diameter, flaring the very end portions of the tubes to be connected, laying a thermo-fluid welding material around the connector end portions within the flared ends of the tubes to be connected, and applying heat to flow the said material prior to chilling.

Abstract: A refrigerated display case having a display space therein is provided with an access opening in the front of the case and an air curtain composed of a plurality of adjacent layers of air is directed across the access opening with the innermost layer of air adjacent the display space being at a higher temperature than an adjacent layer of air. Some of the air from the air curtain may be directed inwardly for circulation within the display space if desired. Refrigerated means are provided for refrigerating the air forming at least some of the layers of air forming the air curtain and the air forming the innermost layer of the air curtain may flow through a passage which by-passes the refrigeration means. The display space also may be provided with a rear access opening and duct means for circulation of the air forming the air curtain may have portions extending vertically upward at opposite sides of the rear access opening.
