Abstract: Apparatus for feeding a lightweight continuous sheet of disposable filter medium from a large supply roll onto a rotary drum vacuum filter. The feeder includes at least one pair of endless gripper belts which are trained about rollers in face-toface relationship to grip the disposable medium therebetween to carry it from the supply roll to the filter. The roll of filter medium is mounted in a fixed cradle, a press roller is mounted on levers to continually press against the roll of paper as it unwinds and one of the gripper belts passes over the press roll against the paper roll to unwind the filter medium and carry it into the nip between the gripper belts for delivery to and release at a location adjacent the filter. The press roller and its associated belt are arranged to contact a relatively large area of the supply roll thus effecting rotation of the supply roll to assist in unwinding.

Abstract: An endless web filter medium zig-zags through a stack of superposed, spaced-apart, stationary filter press units mounted in a frame. Each press unit includes a stationary upper section which receives a reciprocatory ring; the ring carries a flexible diaphragm fixed to its periphery thereby forming a first chamber between the diaphragm and the upper section. The web may be supported by a drainage grid formed on the stationary section of the unit below. Actuating means extend the ring downwardly to contact the web below to form a filtration chamber overlying the web. Slurry is introduced and contained in the filtration chamber overlying the web. Abstract: An improved agitator mounting for drum filters having agitator pins located below the drum''s center axis has been developed. The improved agitator mounting provides means for driving a submerged, suspended rake-type agitator through a pin and bearing means mounted through the wall of the filter tank. The improved mounting means, which may be completely removed from outside the tank, comprises bearing means mounted externally, a pin seating in said bearing means, said pin secured to the agitator arm by bolts or other means fastened externally, and a drive arm attached to said pin by external means. A boot may also be attached between the agitator arm and the tank wall to house the agitator mounting and provide a liquid seal to prevent liquid contact with the agitator mounting.

Abstract: The sidewall of a rotary filter drum is provided with raised, perforate decking across which is formed a plurality of parallel grooves encircling the drum. Loops of filter medium are trained about the drum and rollers spaced therefrom.
