The sheet-feed roller can move to a first position retracted from the sheet, a second position lower than the first position for feeding the sheet, and a third position lower than the second position. The sheet feeding apparatus has a position control mode in which when a sheet is fed, the sheet-feed roller is moved from the first position to the third position and stopped there, the middle plate is moved toward the sheet-feed roller by the lifter mechanism, the sheet stacked on the middle plate is brought into abutment against the sheet-feed roller, the middle plate is moved until a position detection sensor outputs the detection signal that the sheet-feed roller is in the second position, and a height of the sheet is controlled.

摘要： When a sheet containing portion is attached to an accommodating portion, a drawing-in member which is rotatably provided on an accommodating portion is engaged with a locking member which is turnably provided on the sheet containing portion and in this state, the drawing-in member is rotated. With this, the locking member is turned and the sheet containing portion is drawn into the accommodating portion. The guide member is provided with a guide portion and an introduction opening. When the sheet containing portion is attached, the locking member is introduced to the guide portion from the introduction opening. A forming range of the introduction opening in a direction intersecting with an attaching direction of the sheet containing portion is set equal to or smaller than a forming range of the guide portion in a direction intersecting with the attaching direction of the sheet containing portion.

摘要： The present invention provides an image forming apparatus in which sheet containing device containing a sheet is detachably attached to a containing portion provided in an apparatus main body includes: an engagement portion provided on the sheet containing device; drawing device which is provided in the containing portion to be rotatable using one end thereof as a pivot, the drawing device being engaged with the engagement portion and rotating when the sheet containing device is attached to the containing portion and drawing the sheet containing device through the engagement portion by means of a spring when a predetermined rotating position is reached; and a guide device which, when the drawing device rotates to draw the sheet containing device, guides a movement of the engagement portion in a drawing direction, and has such a configuration that the guide device is composed of a linear portion parallel to a direction in which the sheet containing device is inserted; and a curved portion which is provided on the downstream side of the linear portion with respect to a direction in which the sheet containing device is attached, the curved portion being curved not to extend away from the pivot of the drawing device.

摘要： When a retard roller is rotating in a sheet feeding direction, the rotation is transmitted to a pickup roller and the pickup roller rotates in a direction for conveying the sheet. When the retard roller is rotating in a direction opposite to the sheet feeding direction or is stationary, the pickup roller does not feed the sheet. Therefore, in a successive feeding operation, the sheet to be fed next is always conveyed such that the leading end thereof reaches a nip position between a feed roller and the retard roller. Therefore, the intervals between the sheets are uniform in the successive feeding operation.
