摘要: The invention concerns a novel antimicrobial peptide (AMP) polymer conjugate comprising at least one AMP, typically colistin, and a dextrin polymer wherein said dextrin polymer has a molecular weight between 5,000-60,000 g/mol and is modified by the additions of pendant groups which increase the stability of the conjugate and so delays its degradation thereby slowing the rate at which the AMP is released.

摘要: Issuing a debit card associated with only non-personally identifying information includes communicating among an input device, a network coupling, and a card dispenser. The input device is configured to receive a new account request. The new account request includes only non-personally identifiable information. The network coupling is configured to send the new account request to an acquirer processor and to receive an approval response from the acquirer processor. The card dispenser is configured to dispense a debit card to the user based on the approval response received from the acquirer processor. The debit card includes only non-personally identifiable information. The non-personally identifiable information includes the account number.

摘要: An antibacterial peptide obtainable from a S. mitis and S. oralis; or a variant thereof, or a fragment of any of these, for use as an antibacterial agent. Specific peptides have been identified. These peptides are secreted by strains of S. mitis or S. oralis. They are active against inter alia gram negative bacteria and Staphylococcal spp. The peptides may be isolated for use or the S. mitis or S. oralis may be used in a probiotic therapy.

摘要: Personal protective devices have a carrying bag, such as a purse, and a separate bullet resistant vest or penetration resistant (to stab wounds) vest comprises at least one neck sling and at least one torso strap. The bullet/penetration resistant vest is dimensioned to removably fit within the carrying bag. The carrying bags are configured to provide a “ready state” wherein a bullet resistant shield and neck sling are within the carrying bag while at least a connector attached to the end of a deployable torso strap(s) is outside of the carrying bag. The carrying bag has at least one slot designed to allow the torso strap(s) to be pre-fed from the interior of the carrying bag to a position exterior of the carrying bag. In this “ready state”, the majority of the torso strap is maintained within the interior of the carrying bag. The neck sling and torso straps are deployable to secure the vest to a wearer's torso in the deployed position.

摘要: The run-time available from an uninterruptible power system is accurately determined both during supply of power from the battery to the load and during the time where power is supplied directly from an AC power system to the load. During power outages, where power is supplied from the battery through the inverter to the load, the remaining run-time is first estimated by calculation and then corrected by modification of the calculated value according to the reciprocal of the run-time slope. Alternatively, a scaling factor is used as part of the first run-time calculations and a correction factor which applies more corrective weight as the time on inverter progresses may be used. During power outages and when power is supplied from the AC power system to the load the maximum available run-time is extrapolated from a table of values representing maximum available run-times at various levels of power being supplied to the load from a fully charged battery. These values are updated after inverter runs to reflect actual system run-times. The maximum run-times are thereby adapted to reflect battery aging and other unique characteristics of the system.

摘要: A collapsible, self-expanding polyhedron comprises a plurality of side members each connected with an elastic band that is sized to urge each side wall of adjacent side members together to form an expanded configuration. When the polyhedron is compressed on two opposing side members, which causes the other side members to separate into a collapsed configuration, the elastic band expands to a maximum length with maximum tension. Once the compression is released, the at least one elastic band retracts back to a minimum length and urges the side members back into the expanded configuration.

摘要: A removable fletch, system utilizing the fletch, method of installing the fletch, and kit comprising the fletch and an installation jig. The fletch comprises a feather member extending from a mounting body in a first direction, and one or more locating pins and a locking pin extend from the mounting body in a second direction. The locating pins are insertable within holes disposed in the wall of a hollow-shafted archery arrow. The locating pins define angled engagement notches that contact the inner surface of the arrow body such that translation of the fletch with respect to the arrow body causes the fletch to be pulled tightly against the arrow body. The locking pin may be snapped into a corresponding hole within the arrow wall, thereby fixing the fletch to the arrow body. An installation drill jig may be used to drill holes within the arrow wall corresponding to the locating and locking pins of the fletch.
