Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for recognizing a nearby device, which measure distances between devices and calculate intimacies between the devices, thus notifying a user of the distances to and intimacies with nearby devices. The apparatus includes a distance determination module unit for determining distances to a plurality of nearby devices based on signals for distance determination, received from the respective nearby devices. A zone determination module unit determines zones to which the respective nearby devices belong, among multiple zones, depending on the distances to the respective nearby devices. A nearby device recognition module unit recognizes the nearby devices using received information of the nearby devices. An intimacy determination module unit determines intimacies with the nearby devices, based on previously stored information required for intimacy determination. A user interface unit displays results of distance determination and intimacy determination to a user.

Provided is a data sharing apparatus and method for sharing data between a terminal possessed by a user and another terminal using social relations. The data sharing apparatus includes a social relation information acquisition unit that accesses a social network service (SNS) server for providing an SNS to acquire social relation information of a user, a social relation information storage unit that stores the acquired social relation information, and a data sharing control unit that controls data sharing between a user terminal possessed by the user and a target terminal based on the stored social relation information.

Disclosed herein is a system and method that analyze a plurality of types of interactions between devices and between users, predict intimacies therebetween, find small groups within a certain group based on the intimacies, and then detect outcasts. The system for detecting a small group and an outcast includes a data collection unit for collecting data based on interactions between objects. A data analysis unit analyzes the data. An intimacy prediction unit calculates intimacies between objects based on the analyzed data. A small group configuration unit detects one or more small groups from a certain group, based on the calculated intimacies. An outcast detection unit detects an outcast, based on presence or absence of each object in the one or more small groups and the intimacies.

Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for replying to a query. The apparatus for replying to a query includes: a query reply processing unit configured to generate candidates of correct answers by analyzing a question of a user who has inputted a query and searching knowledge database and document database based on a result of analyzing the question and configured to infer a final correct answer from the candidates of correct answers; an inference information generating unit configured to generate a reference corpus and a word inquiry, which are inference information for inferring a knowledge level of a user of little or no information; and a knowledge level inferring unit configured to generate knowledge level information by inferring the knowledge level of the user by use of the reference corpus and the word inquiry and provide the knowledge level information to the query reply processing unit.

Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method that enable data sharing to be performed between short-range/middle-range/long-range mobile terminals by minimizing specific intervention of a user. The apparatus includes a social relationship management unit for managing social network group information formed by a user while the user utilizes a social network service. A device recognition and authentication unit identifies a mobile terminal of another party attempting to make a connection and allocates a data communication channel for data exchange, based on device information received from the mobile terminal of the other party attempting to make a connection and the social network group information. A shared data setting unit sets data to be shared with the mobile terminal of the other party between which the data communication channel has been established. A shared data transmission unit transmits the data to be shared to the mobile terminal of the other party.

Disclosed are a combining method of smart devices and an apparatus thereof. More specifically the combining method of resources of the smart devices and the apparatus thereof are disclosed.
