摘要: A method for identifying transfer efficiency in a xerographic print engine utilizes customer images, thereby avoiding the use of specialized images and the corresponding loss of productivity and paper waste. The method includes electronically sensing a two-dimensional residual mass structure on a substantial portion of a substrate surface within the xerographic print engine after image transfer, analyzing the two-dimensional structure using signal and/or image processing techniques, and determining the transfer efficiency, based on the sensed two-dimensional residual mass structure by applying the following functional equation form or variant: sensor_response=[(1−Mxfer—efficiency)*MpixelCnt]+[(1−Yxfer—efficiency)*YpixelCnt]+[(1−Cxfer—efficiency)*CpixelCnt]+[(1−Kxfer—efficiency)*KpixelCnt].

摘要: The exemplary embodiments are directed to a control system and method of predicting how a machine will respond to occasional or periodic maintenance or service, and adjusting the machine accordingly to account for the change in machine behavior due to the maintenance or service action. More specifically, in a machine under closed-loop control subject to occasional maintenance or service, the maintenance or service results in transient in machine performance. To mitigate transients in machine performance due to maintenance or service, a prediction of the maintenance or service effect is fed forward the existing control system just prior to the occurrence of maintenance or service in order to compensate for the maintenance or service effect. This prediction is continually updated and refined using subsequent measurements of the effect of maintenance or service on machine performance.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to an imaging system, and more specifically, a method and apparatus for accurately predicting toner usage and hence toner dispensing requirements in an imaging system. The toner concentration control system maintains toner concentration in a developer structure, which is connected to a dispenser containing toner. The toner concentration control system includes a toner mass estimator providing a toner mass estimate of the toner mass in the developer structure to be applied to the photoreceptor; a feed forward dispense unit receiving the toner mass estimate and transmitting a feed forward dispense command based on the toner mass estimate; a toner concentration target adjusted by toner age, toner break-in and temperature in the developer structure; a feed back dispense unit receiving the adjusted toner concentration target and transmitting a feedback dispense command; and a total dispense unit receiving the feed forward dispense command and the feedback dispense command, and outputting total dispense command to the dispenser, which dispenses the toner to the developer structure in accordance with the total dispense command.
