Abstract: Provided herein are polyethylene compositions with broad orthogonal composition distribution. The polyethylene compositions may comprise at least 65 wt % ethylene-derived units and from 0 to 35 wt % of C3 to C12 olefin comonomer-derived units, and furthermore may exhibit a reversed comonomer index (RCI,m) of 100 kg/mol or greater, a Tw1-Tw2 value of from −16 to −38° C., and an Mw1/Mw2 value of at least 0.9, such as 0.9 to 4. Also provided are processes for making the polyethylene compositions, as well as films made from the polyethylene compositions. Such films may feature superior film stiffness for a given polyethylene composition density, and accordingly such films in some embodiments have average MD/TD modulus and density satisfying the following equation: Avg. Modulus≥1.2*(C1*Density−C2), where C1 and C2 are constants, such as C1=2,065,292 and C2=1,872,345.

Abstract: Borate activated catalyst systems and methods for making the same for gas phase or slurry phase olefin polymerization are provided. The catalyst system can include a first catalyst comprising a borate activated mono cyclopentadienyl metallocene compound and a second catalyst comprising a supported bis cyclopentadienyl metallocene complex. A supported bis cyclopentadienyl metallocene complex can be prepared to provide a preformed, supported catalyst, wherein the supported bis cyclopentadienyl metallocene complex comprises bis(1,3-methylbutyl cyclopentadienyl) zirconium dichloride. The preformed, supported catalyst can be mixed with mineral oil or hydrocarbon solvent to form a slurry. The slurry can be mixed with a borate activated mono cyclopentadienyl metallocene compound to form the borate activated catalyst system.

Abstract: Methods for making a high density polyethylene composition are provided. The methods can include contacting ethylene and at least one non-ethylene comonomer with a catalyst system in a gas phase reactor in the presence of hydrogen at an ethylene partial pressure of 100 psi or more to produce a polyethylene copolymer. In one or more embodiments, the catalyst system can include one or more bis amides. The resulting polyethylene copolymer can have a density of about 0.945 g/cm3 or more; a melt index (I2) of about 5 dg/min to about 50 dg/min; a melt index ratio (I21/I2) of about 20 to about 35; and a molecular weight distribution of about 3.0 to about 10.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to polyolefin compositions containing one or more high-density polyethylenes (HDPEs) and linear low-density polyethylenes (LLDPEs) and methods for forming the same. The polyolefin composition contains about 40 wt % to about 60 wt % of HDPE and about 40 wt % to about 60 wt % of LLDPE, by weight of the polyolefin composition. The HDPE has a density of greater than 0.93 g/cm3 and a melt index of about 0.2 dg/min to about 10 dg/min. The LLDPE has a density of less than 0.915 g/cm3 and a melt index of about 0.2 dg/min to about 10 dg/min. The polyolefin composition has a density of about 0.91 g/cm3 or greater, a melt index of about 0.5 dg/min to about 6 dg/min, and a Tw1−Tw2 value of about −25° C. or less.
