Abstract: A filter which includes a housing having a liquid inlet and a liquid outlet formed therein. A reticulated basket is fitted and supported within the housing in a spaced relationship from the housing side wall. A filter bag is fitted within the reticulated basket and is supported by the basket in sealing engagement with a cap applied over the housing. The cap includes an upwardly offset marginal portion which in cooperation with the inlet into the filter housing defines a passageway by which liquid can enter the housing and pass upwardly and over the upper marginal edge of the filter bag, down into the bag, through the bag, and out the liquid outlet.
