Abstract: A system and method for processing unconditioned syngas first removes solids and semi-volatile organic compounds (SVOC), then removes volatile organic compounds (VOC), and then removes at least one sulfur containing compound from the syngas. Additional processing may be performed depending on such factors as the source of syngas being processed, the products, byproducts and intermediate products desired to be formed, captured or recycled and environmental considerations.

Abstract: A water inlet protection system is provided. The system may an adjustable frame defining an interior cavity, the adjustable frame including a plurality of rigid base members, a plurality of slidable corner members, a plurality of nut-and-bolt fasteners, and one or more tabs extending from one or more of the corner members. Each of the slidable corner members includes one or more slots, and each of the nut-and-bolt fasteners includes a bolt that extends through one of the one or more slots and one of the rigid base members. When the respective bolt is loosened, the respective slidable corner member is slidable along the respective slot atop the respective rigid base member, thereby altering a boundary of the interior cavity. When the respective bolt is tightened, the respective slidable corner member is fixed in place atop the respective rigid base member, thereby fixing the boundary of the interior cavity.

Abstract: A rainwater harvesting prefilter having a filter drum. The filter drum includes a fluid inlet configured to be fluidly connected to a fluid entrance pipe of a rainwater collection system and a fluid outlet configured to be fluidly connected to a cistern tank. A filter assembly is disposed in the filter drum. The filter assembly includes a filter support plate (with supporting components as needed) suspended in the filter drum such that the filter support plate spans across and substantially covers a width of the filter drum to separate the filter drum into an upper chamber having the fluid inlet and a lower chamber having the fluid outlet. A plurality of spaced-apart apertures are disposed in the filter support plate. A plurality of filter socks are positionable in the plurality of spaced apart apertures such that filter socks extend downward from the filter support plate into the lower chamber.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for brewing batches of kava beverage. Using the apparatus and method, batches of kava beverage are brewed in a mixing vessel with a motorized internal agitator and a filter lid that lid fits atop the mixing vessel and a mesh filter bag that hangs into the mixing vessel. The filter bag is filled with kava root and the vessel is filled with a beverage medium. The motorized agitator is activated and the agitation from the agitators simulates a traditional kava brewing process, creating a batch of kava beverage for serving.

Abstract: A filter bag assembly includes: a flexible first sheet; a flexible second sheet overlying and secured to the first sheet so that a compartment is formed therebetween; a porous filter sheet disposed between the first sheet and the second sheet so as to divide the compartment into a first compartment and a second compartment; a first port secured to the second sheet so as to communicate directly with the first compartment; and a second port secured to the second sheet so as to communicate directly with the second compartment, the second port being spaced apart from the first port. The porous filter sheet is disposed so that fluid entering the first compartment through the first port must pass through the filter sheet before entering the second compartment or exiting through the second port.
