    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures formed of refractory components, the refractory structure being housed within a building having a roof support elements. Cross-support beams are provided to latitudinally span the refractory structure and are suspended from roof support elements associated with the building housing the refractory structure by a suspension support system attached to the cross-support beams. An overhead crane assembly may thus be supported by the cross-support beams.

    Abstract: Methods and systems for constructing a refractory wall structure having gas flue spaces are provided. In certain embodiments, a first course of the wall structure may be constructed by installing opposing refractory side wall panels that are separated by a distance which defines a widthwise dimension of the wall structure and an interior wall space therebetween. The side wall panels may include multiple sets of finger forms defining a joint space (e.g., a dovetail joint space), whereby the finger forms protrude inwardly into the interior wall space such that the sets of finger forms of one side panel are oppositely positioned relative to the sets of finger forms of an opposed side wall panel. Thereafter, a series of rigid refractory bridge components may be installed between respective oppositely positioned sets of the finger forms of the opposed wall panels so that a portion of the refractory bridge components is received with the joint space of the finger forms to thereby establish the flue spaces between longitudinally adjacent ones of the bridge components.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for constructing refractory structures, e.g., glass furnace regenerator structures and/or glass furnace structures formed of refractory components, by positioning opposed pairs of vertically oriented base beams on respective opposite sides of the refractory structure and having a lower end rigidly attached to a foundation of the refractory structure and an upper end which extends vertically above the refractory structure, and attaching cross-support beams to respective ones of the base beams at the upper end thereof so as to latitudinally span the refractory structure. An overhead crane assembly may thus be supported by the cross-support beams.

    Abstract: Coke oven corbel structures include an assembly of multiple stacked tiers of refractory blocks defining a plurality of substantially vertically oriented central flues and a plurality of diagonally oriented lateral flues. At least one tier of refractory blocks in the assembly includes a plurality of tongue-and-groove interconnected refractory blocks. This plurality of interconnected refractory blocks of the at least one tier comprise mutually substantially orthogonal faces defining an edge and respectively including an elongate tongue protruding outwardly therefrom and an elongate groove recessed therein. The elongate tongue and groove include respective adjacent ends which co-terminate with one another at the edge defined by the mutually orthogonal faces of the refractory blocks.
