    Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a receiving unit, a detecting unit, and a generating unit. The receiving unit receives two pieces of image data to be compared with each other. The detecting unit detects the difference between the two pieces of image data received by the receiving unit. If a drawing element in the image data where the difference is detected by the detecting unit is dense with modified parts to such an extent that it is estimated to be difficult to identify the content of modification in the display of the difference, the generating unit generates difference image data indicating the difference between the two pieces of image data for comparison by adding an auxiliary image to highlight the content of the detected difference.
