In one embodiment, a platform architecture may be provided for high speed Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) service termination using a common MAC architecture and router functionality, e.g., an integrated router and firewall service may be provided to a local WLAN network, leveraging a common orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)-based MAC architecture for both the BWA and WLAN functionality. Such a common MAC architecture may be implemented to optimize the performance and throughput between the broadband wireless ISP data service and localized WLAN network.

Methods and systems are disclosed for selecting performance settings for one or more wireless technologies, presenting a graphical representation of the relative performance of the wireless technologies for each performance setting, and allowing a selection of at least one of the performance settings. The performance settings can be associated with wireless technologies, or location types. Performance characteristics may include noise, power, quality, speed, and interference. The performance setting of one wireless technology may be manually adjusted and the impact on other wireless technologies can be a graphical displayed or numerical display. Adjustments can be made by a user or a platform designer. In a preset mode, a user make select between preset performance settings that are graphically displayed. In an advanced mode, adjustments to wireless performance characteristics of all the wireless interfaces on a specific platform may be selectively made with the relative effects on other wireless interfaces graphically displayed.

Methods and systems are disclosed for antenna resource management in a non-harmonized RF spectrum that enable sharing of antenna structures for multiple wireless applications across different frequency bands in a global market environment and the harmonization of wireless devices in a close proximity environment. Antenna resources are allocated and managed using management software in an environment having multiple antenna resources for use with multiple wireless device types. Management software may control switching logic to retarget the antennas for different association with different types of wireless devices. Policies for selecting wireless devices types may be driven based upon one or more of location awareness, spectrum awareness, and marketing preferences. The wireless devices can be laptop computers, other portable devices, desktop computers, information handling systems, or the like.

Methods and systems are disclosed for connecting multiple wireless personal area network (WPAN) or ultra wide band (UWB) devices to a host information handling system having a display system providing WPAN connection for WPAN peripheral devices and to serve as a WPAN hub for the WPAN peripheral devices. A data communication interface associated with the display system provides communications to a host information handling system. The WPAN peripheral devices are docked as WPAN devices for the host information handling system. Subsequent docking between the host and a display monitor is detected by device drivers. A USB hub with UWB support is located in a display monitor. The USB hub can connect to a workstation, docking station, portable computer, or the like. The display monitor can be a storage device, and can store UWB drivers in memory on the display monitor.

Systems and methods for providing a deterministic process for implementing network traffic prioritization, particularly for implementing bandwidth latency sensitive applications are described herein. In one embodiment, multiple network interfaces are provided within a system. Network communication traffic through the system may be prioritized between different network interfaces based upon the type of traffic that is being handled. Higher priority bandwidth or latency sensitive traffic maybe routed to the network interface that best suited for such traffic. In some applications each network interface may operate in a separate band, however, in other applications one or more of the network interfaces may be of the same band type.
