摘要： A process for preparing an optically active mercapto compound having asymmetrical centers having the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 represents an alkyl group, R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group, C* represents an asymmetric carbon, n represents the value of 1 or 2, is disclosed. The process involves the reaction of a cultured microorganism having the ability of asymmetrically hydrolyzing ester bonds of the raw material, thus eliminating the need for protecting free mercapto groups which are unstable in the reaction conditions. The optically active mercapto compound is useful as a raw material for producing a compound having medicinal effects such as antihypertensive activity.

摘要： The invention describes an image forming apparatus having a cartridge configured to be removably attached to a main body. The cartridge has a rotational body positioned within the cartridge and an extension portion protruding outward from the rotational body in an axial direction. The device body has a main body, which has a driving member that rotates the rotational body and the extension portion, a detecting unit for detecting a movement of the extension portion, and a determining unit for determining a type of the developer cartridge using either a time elapsed between a time in which the driving member begins driving the rotational body and a time in which the detecting unit detects the movement of the extension portion, or a drive amount of the drive device occurring during an elapsed time.

The cartridge also includes a rotational body which includes a second engaging portion, and a center axis of the rotational body is aligned with a center axis of the engagement gear. Moreover, the cartridge includes an extension portion which is positioned offset from a center of rotation of the rotational body. The engagement gear and the rotational body are configured to selectively be positioned in one of a first state in which the second engaging portion and the first engaging portion are separated from each other, and a second state in which the second engaging portion engages the first engaging portion. The rotational body is configured to rotate with the engagement gear when the engagement gear rotates and the engagement gear and the rotational body are in the second state.

The cartridge frame defines at least a part of the feeding path and at least a part of the returning path.

摘要： A light traveling permissible portion and a light traveling blocking portion are alternately disposed in a specification detecting and agitator driving gear such that a detection portion detects information corresponding to the maximum image formation sheet number. When the developer cartridge is new, a new/used cartridge detecting gear restricts transmission of the aforementioned information from the specification detecting and agitator driving gear to the detection portion for a predetermined time t, thereby detecting whether the developer cartridge is new or used. The detection portion detects whether the developer cartridge is mounted based on whether the detection light reflects from the light traveling permissible portion.

摘要： A propulsion apparatus for a vessel includes a main screw and a push type POD propeller which is provided rearward of the main screw. Furthermore, a plurality of grooves which extend along flow directions of a hub vortex generated by the main screw are provided on a front end portion of a casing of the POD propeller. According to this propulsion apparatus for a vessel, the hub vortex generated by the main screw rearward of the main screw is weakened by diffusing the hub vortex along the grooves, and therefore the propulsion efficiency of the propulsion apparatus for a vessel is improved.
