Abstract: An intermodal terminal control system determines characteristics of cargo containers scheduled for receipt into and/or travel out of an intermodal terminal connected with both rail routes and automobile routes, determines characteristics of cargo handling equipment within the intermodal terminal, determines characteristics of rail vehicles scheduled for one or more of entry into or travel out of the intermodal terminal, and determines characteristics of automobile vehicles scheduled for entry into or travel out of the intermodal terminal. The system also determines constraints on cargo handling operations and a plan for the cargo handling equipment to transfer the cargo containers between the different modes of transportation within the intermodal terminal. The plan designates a sequence of operations to be performed in moving the cargo containers with the cargo handling equipment. The plan is based on the characteristics of the cargo containers, the cargo handling equipment, the rail vehicles, and the automobile vehicles.

Abstract: System includes one or more processors configured to determine loading parameters associated with section locations and zone locations. The section locations are locations of cargo sections at a product-distribution site, and the zone locations are locations of load zones at the product-distribution site. The one or more processors are also configured to assign the outbound automobiles to the load zones. The load zones are configured to have multiple outbound automobiles therein. The outbound automobiles are assigned to the load zones to reduce at least one of a total time to move the outbound automobiles from the zone locations to the section locations, a total distance to move the outbound automobiles from the zone locations to the section locations, or a total number of times in which individuals handle the outbound automobiles.

Abstract: A terminal operating system includes one or more processors configured to obtain one or more parameters of non-propulsion-generating cargo vehicles and to determine which of the non-propulsion-generating cargo vehicles are to be included in a vehicle system assembled in a terminal or yard based on the one or more parameters. The one or more parameters include one or more of an earliest time of availability at which cargo equipment will be available in the terminal or yard, a safety operational characteristic, an efficiency operational characteristic of the one or more non-propulsion-generating cargo vehicles, and/or a priority parameter of the one or more non-propulsion-generating cargo vehicles. The one or more processors are configured to automatically direct equipment within the terminal or yard to assemble the vehicle system based on the one or more parameters.
