Abstract:
Methods for resolving emulsions in a hydrocarbon stream by contacting the hydrocarbon stream with a demulsifying composition are disclosed. Demulsifying compositions for treating a hydrocarbon stream are also disclosed, wherein the demulsifying composition comprises at least one C4-C12 alkyl phenol-formaldehyde resin alkoxylate.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for evaluating and mitigating the wax risks of a given hydrocarbon composition such as crude oil. The disclosed systems and methods enable rapid and ready prediction of wax risks using algorithms based on a small sample of the hydrocarbon composition. The wax risks are predicted using predictive models developed from machine learning. The disclosed systems and methods include mitigation strategies for wax risks that can include chemical additives, operation changes, and/or hydrocarbon blend.
Abstract:
According to some embodiments, data associated with the operation of a desalter vessel (150), adapted to receive a raw crude input and a water input and facilitate creation of a desalted crude output and a salt water output, may be stored in a computer storage device (630). A computer processor (610) may determine at least one parameter associated with the data in the computer store. The computer processor (610) may then automatically calculate, based on the determined parameter and a physics-based dynamic desalter model (400), an adjustment value for a second parameter associated with operation of the desalter vessel. Using the automatically calculated adjustment value, the computer processor (610) may automatically generate and transmit an indication of the adjustment value so as to improve operation of the desalter vessel (150).
Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for evaluating and mitigating the fouling potential of a given crude oil. The system and methods enable the refiner to rapidly and readily identify the particular mechanisms by which a crude oil may foul, and to select the optimal chemical treatment and/or crude blend to mitigate fouling potential.
Abstract:
Antifoulant compositions and methods are used for inhibiting fouling on structural parts of a system exposed to a fluid hydrocarbon or petrochemical stream. The antifoulant compositions may comprise at least one polyalkylene anhydride ester (“PAAE”) dispersant. Other antifoulant compositions may comprise an alkylphenol sulfide (“APS”).
