Abstract: The invention addresses a problem of providing a lubricating oil composition for gas engines capable of suppressing viscosity increase while reducing a sulfated ash content and excellent in high-temperature detergency and base number retention. The lubricating oil composition is used for gas engines and contains a base oil (A), at least one ash-free additive (B) selected from an ash-free sulfur-based antioxidant (B1) and a hindered amine compound (B2), and a boronated imide-type dispersant (C), and satisfies the following requirements (X1) to (X3): Requirement (X1): the sulfated ash content is 0.2% by mass or less. Requirement (X2): the content of the ash-free additive (B) is 1.2% by mass or less based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition, provided that in the case where the ash-free additive (B) contains the hindered amine compound (B2), the content of the hindered amine compound (B2) is less than 1.0% by mass based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition. Requirement (X3): the content of the boron atom derived from the boronated imide-type dispersant (C) is 200 ppm by mass or more based on the total amount of the lubricating oil composition.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of pretreatment of a metallic substrate for a subsequent metal cold forming process. The method includes at least steps (1) and (2), namely providing at least one substrate having at least one surface at least partially made of at least one metal (step (1)), contacting the at least one surface of the substrate provided in step (1) with an aqueous lubricant composition (B) (step (2)), where the aqueous lubricant composition (B) includes besides water at least constituents (b1) to (b4) and optionally (b5).
Further disclosed herein are a pretreated metallic substrate obtained by the method, a method of cold forming of a metallic substrate, and an aqueous lubricant composition (B).-

Abstract: The disclosed technology provides a lubricating composition and a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine where the lubricating composition contains an oil of lubricating viscosity, one or more metal-containing, sulfur-free, alkyl-phenol based detergents, an alkaline earth metal sulfonate detergent, a polyisobutenyl succinimide dispersant, and a dispersant viscosity modifier having a number average molecular weight of at least 20,000. The lubricating composition of the present invention can be formulated to have lower HTHS viscosity, and reduced phosphorous content, while providing protection against adhesive wear.

Abstract: A lubricating oil composition having a high temperature high shear (HTHS) viscosity at 150° C. in a range of about 1.3 to about 2.3 cP is disclosed. The composition comprises (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity having a kinematic viscosity at 100° C. in a range of 1.5 to 6.0 mm2/s; and (b) a molybdenum-succinimide complex providing 200 to 1500 ppm by weight of molybdenum to the lubricating oil composition.

Also provided is a method for maintaining and/or increasing fresh oil TBN of a lubricating oil composition while at the same time improving seal performance in an internal combustion engine.

Abstract: The present invention provides a viscosity index improver having an excellent viscosity index improving effect, a lubricant composition having excellent low-temperature viscosity in which the viscosity reduction due to long-term use is small, and a method for producing the lubricant composition. A viscosity index improver of the present invention contains a copolymer (A) containing, as monomer units, an alkyl (meth)acrylate (a) whose alkyl group contains 5 or more carbon atoms, and an alkyl (meth)acrylate (b) whose alkyl group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms, wherein the alkyl group of the alkyl (meth)acrylate (a) whose alkyl group contains 5 or more carbon atoms has a molar-average carbon number (Q) of 29 or more, and the alkyl (meth)acrylate (b) whose alkyl group contains 1 to 4 carbon atoms is contained as a monomer unit in an amount of 38 to 75% by weight based on the weight of the copolymer (A).
