Abstract:
Systems and methods for generating models of control systems based on the data emitted by the PLCs of the control system are disclosed. It is initially determined if the data of a PLC is structured data or unstructured data. If the data emitted by the PLC is structured data, a model of the control system is automatically generated based on the structured data from the PLC. If the data is unstructured data, information regarding the assets in the control system is obtained from another data source other than the PLC and a model of the control system is generated based on the received information and the data.
Abstract:
Exemplified herein is a system and method to accept password on a touch-screen HMI (human-machine interface) device. The system and method uses a combination of tactile gestures that are each received at predefined quadrants (or regions) or the touch-screen. The combination of such tactile gestures and quadrant information are used as a shortcut sequence to a user-interface (UI) function call, e.g., change zoom parameter of a presented screen of the display, navigate to a next presented screen, navigate to a previous presented screen.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for sharing a user interface element based on user gestures. In one embodiment, a method can include selecting, based on a user gesture, a user interface element being displayed on an output device of the source computer. The method can further include identifying a location on the output device of the source computer to move the user interface element. The method can further include updating the output device of the source computer to display the user interface element at the identified location on the output device. The method can also include generating, in response to updating the output device, a notification indicating that the source computer is sharing the user interface element. The method can also include transmitting the notification to one or more target computers in communication with the source computer.
Abstract:
A method of securing an industrial control system includes operating the industrial control system in an open mode, wherein communications between a plurality of devices of the industrial control system are unencrypted when the industrial control system is in the open mode. The method includes exchanging security tokens between the plurality of devices of the industrial control system. The method further includes ceasing operating the industrial control system in the open mode and instead operating the industrial control system in a secure mode, wherein the communications between the plurality of devices of the industrial control system are encrypted using the security tokens when the industrial control system is operating in the secure mode.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for managing power plant component information. In one embodiment, a system can include at least one memory configured to store computer-executable instructions and at least one control device configured to access the at least one memory and execute the computer-executable instructions. The instructions may be configured to associate an identifier with a component and correlate the identifier with component information stored in a database. The instructions may be configured to output the information to a portable device. In another embodiment of the disclosure, an output of information to a portable device may be specified and updated according to input to the portable device.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for moving display objects based on user gestures. In one embodiment, a system can include at least one memory configured to store computer-executable instructions and at least one control device configured to access the at least one memory and execute the computer-executable instructions. The instructions may be configured to detect a first user gesture adjacent to an output device in order to identity a display object displayed on the output device. The instructions may be configured to detect a second user gesture adjacent to the output device in order to identify a location to move the display object. The instructions may be configured to update the output device to display the display object at the identified location on the output device.
Abstract:
Certain embodiments may include systems and methods for presenting data associated with a power plant configuration tool. In one embodiment, a method may include creating configurations of inter-object relationships among a plurality of asset objects of a massive object model, loading the object model, changing values of data member attributes of at least one of the asset objects with a plant configuration tool without changing software code of plant configuration tool, saving the configurations in a permanent storage location, and retrieving the configurations for display to a user.

The system and method uses a combination of tactile gestures that are each received at predefined quadrants (or regions) or the touch-screen. The combination of such tactile gestures and quadrant information are used as an authentication sequence to allow or enable access to control screens that manages operations of a nearby subsystem.

Abstract:
Certain embodiments of the disclosure may include systems and methods for tracking the quality and efficiency of the machine instructions to operate an associated controller. The method may include: receiving, by at least one processor, a plurality of rules associated with an optimization procedure for a plurality of machine instructions for operating an associated controller; determining an evaluation, by the at least one processor, for the plurality of machine instructions based at least in part on the plurality of rules; and outputting the evaluation.
