Abstract: An electric power system for a vehicle includes at least one electric machine, one or more power rectifiers, and a plurality of DC channels. The at least one electric machine includes a plurality of tooth-wound multi-phase windings that are substantially magnetically decoupled, and the at least one electric machine is mechanically balanced even if one of the plurality of windings is de-energized. The one or more power rectifiers are configured to produce rectified power from the power generated by the at least one electric machine. The plurality of DC channels are formed after the at least one power rectifier and are configured to provide DC power to one or more loads within a vehicle.

Abstract: A charging pad for charging one or more receiver devices is disclosed. The charging pad includes at least one first resonator coil operable at a first frequency band and at least one second resonator coil operable at a second frequency band. Further, the charging pad includes at least one exciter coil magnetically coupled to the at least one first resonator coil and the at least one second resonator coil. In addition, the charging pad includes an excitation unit operationally coupled to the at least one exciter coil and configured to drive the at least one first resonator coil and the at least one second resonator coil via the at least one exciter coil.

The contactless power transfer system further includes a controller configured to control an operating state of the first power converter to vary an alternating current power provided to the first power exchanger coil at the system frequency.

Abstract: A variable frequency resonant converter includes an inverter stage, a resonant circuit, a transformer, a rectifier stage, and a controller. The inverter and rectifier stages include first and second FET devices. The inverter converts a DC input signal to a first AC signal. The resonant circuit is coupled to the inverter stage and filters the first AC signal. The transformer is coupled to the resonant circuit and converts the first AC signal to a second AC signal. The rectifier stage is coupled to the transformer and converts the second AC signal to a DC output signal. The controller is configured to operate both of the first and second FET devices substantially at a resonant frequency at least partially defined by the resonant circuit to generate the DC output signal according to a voltage setpoint.

Abstract: A power distribution system in operative association with a source and a plurality of loads includes a converter, a power distribution unit including a plurality of solid state power controllers and configured to provide power from converter to plurality of loads, and a fault protection unit operatively coupled to converter, power distribution unit, or both. The fault protection unit includes a sensor configured to sense current at output terminal of at least one of power distribution unit and converter and a controller configured to compare sensed current with a corresponding threshold value of current, identify presence of a fault in at least one of plurality of loads, power distribution unit, and converter based on comparison, and activate a desired protection scheme to provide fault ride through during the presence of the fault.
