    Abstract: A press-in-place reinforced seal for an interface between adjacent components, includes a cylindrical structure arranged along a longitudinal axis and characterized by a stepped-shape in a cross-sectional view. The seal is pressed into a first component and compressed by a second component when the seal is installed within the interface. The stepped-shape includes a compliant first section having a first width along the longitudinal axis and a first length orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The first section is compressed by the second component and generates sealing pressure between the first and second components when the seal is installed. The stepped-shape also includes a rigid second section affixed to the first section along the first length for stabilizing the seal structure. The second section has a second width along the longitudinal axis and a second length orthogonal to the longitudinal axis and greater than the first length.

    Abstract: A fuel cell system, e.g., of a motor vehicle, includes a fuel cell stack having fuel cells and non-repeating hardware components, the latter including wet and dry end units. The cells are positioned between the end units. The dry end unit includes an end plate and a compression plate assembly that uniformly compresses the cells against the end plate, and a terminal plate surrounded by a seal plate. An insulator frame disposed adjacent to the compression plate assembly is engaged with the insulator frame via a frictional interface provided by o-ring compression seals having a respective post connected to the terminal plate and the seal plate, and a pocket connected to the insulator frame. The post and pocket of at least one of the compression seals together define a fluid passage. One or more shim plates may be disposed between the end plate and insulator frame.

    Abstract: A heat exchanger may include a coolant cavity having a coolant flow path configured for fluidly communicating coolant and a hydrogen cavity having a hydrogen flow path configured for fluidly communicating hydrogen. The hydrogen cavity may include a plurality of fins dispersed in-line throughout.     Abstract: A fuel cell system arranged to supply electric power to an actuator via an electric power circuit includes an anode and a cathode. A hydrogen delivery system is arranged to supply pressurized hydrogen to the anode, and has a jet pump including an injector nozzle and an ejector. The jet pump channels pressurized hydrogen from a hydrogen tank to the fuel cell. The ejector includes a venturi tube, a mixing chamber, and a secondary flow element, wherein the secondary flow element includes a first duct and a bypass duct. The venturi tube has a first fluidic inlet that is proximal to the injector nozzle, and a second fluidic inlet that is downstream from the injector nozzle of the venturi tube. The first duct is fluidly coupled to the first fluidic inlet, and the bypass duct is fluidly coupled to the second fluidic inlet of the venturi tube.

    Abstract: A press-in-place seal for an interface between adjacent components, with the seal including a cylindrical structure arranged along a longitudinal axis and characterized by a J-shape in a cross-sectional view. The seal is arranged inside a first component and compressed by a second component when the PIP seal is installed within the interface. The J-shape includes a first stem section orthogonal to and extending toward the longitudinal axis for being compressed by the second component when the seal is installed within the interface. The J-shape also includes a second stem section longer than the first stem section, orthogonal to and extending toward the longitudinal axis, for stabilizing the structure when the seal is installed. The J-shape further includes a base third section arranged parallel to the longitudinal axis and connecting the first stem section to the second stem section, thereby defining a concavity between the first and second sections.
