Abstract: A wheelchair alarm system includes a frame adapted to be mounted beneath the wheelchair seat, an electrically operated alarm securely attached to the frame, a first switch securely attached to the frame and adapted to be maintained in contact with the wheelchair seat, and second and third switches securely attached to the frame and adapted to be positioned in the path of movement of the wheelchair brake assemblies. The alarm and the three switches are electrically connected in such a manner that the alarm is actuated if the first switch is closed and if either the second or third switch is closed, indicating that the wheelchair seat is unoccupied and at least one of the brakes is disengaged.
