摘要： The disclosure is of a pipeline surge relief system including a valve opened by upstream pressure against a pilot pressure which is normally maintained at the pressure of the pipeline augmented by a slight biasing force. When a detecting system sense an excessive rate of pressure increase indicating a surge in the pipeline, a valve in the pilot loading line downstream of the detector is closed to maintain the pilot pressure at essentially the pressure of the pipeline prior to the surge whereby the surge will cause the valve to be opened to divert the surging flow to a reservoir.

摘要： A pressure regulating system including a main valve with an expansible tube stretched over a cylindrical barrier so that flow occurs around the barrier only when a pressure fluid in a control chamber around the tube is overcome by upstream pressure. A pilot valve senses downstream pressure and opens when it drops to a predetermined level to exhaust the control chamber to a low pressure zone. Flow around the barrier is increased by evacuating the control chamber to a zone within the valve housing at a pressure lower than downstream. This occurs in a zone wherein the static pressure of the downstream fluid line is converted by the flowing stream to a high velocity, low static pressure. In areas where an atmospheric bleed is not objectionable, a second pilot valve may be provided to exhaust the control chamber to atmosphere if downstream pressure drops to a set lower level.

摘要： A valve seat ring seals against a valve closure on a main sealing diameter. A trailing seal ring and an intermediate seal ring seal between the seat ring and the body on diameters respectively smaller than and larger than the main seal diameter. The annular area between these seal diameters is opposed, at least in part, at the front of the seat ring by body space pressure at a level intermediate the upstream and downstream pressure. This provides a force differential that biases the seat ring forward to seal or rearward to retract, depending upon whether upstream or downstream pressure is introduced between the seal rings.
