    摘要: Techniques to support location services for a roaming mobile station are described. The mobile station may communicate with a serving mobile switching center (MSC) in a serving network. A roaming service provider (RSP) network may map an actual MSC identity (MSCID) of the serving MSC to a generic MSCID and may provide the generic MSCID to a home network. A home mobile positioning center (H-MPC) may map the generic MSCID to an Internet Protocol (IP) address of a mapping server within the RSP network and may send a location request message containing a mobile station identity (MSID) to the mapping server. The mapping server may determine a serving mobile positioning center (S-MPC) based on the MSID and may forward the message to the S-MPC. The mapping server may also receive a location response message from the S-MPC and may forward the message to the H-MPC.

    摘要: Techniques for supporting location-based services (LBS) by a removable module are described. A set of messages (e.g., commands and events) may be defined to support location-based services by the removable module. In one design, the removable module may send a first message (e.g., a Get Position—Request message) to a terminal to request for location information. The first message may be sent for an LBS application running on the removable module. The removable module may thereafter receive a second message (e.g., a Get Position—Response message) with the requested location information from the terminal. The removable module may execute a task for the LBS application based on the location information. The task may include reporting the location of the terminal, initiating a voice call, sending an SMS message, displaying a menu on the terminal, sending a report for tracking of the terminal, etc.

    摘要: Alternative authentication approaches for service request are provided. For a mobile station roaming in a visited network that does not support conventional updating of cryptographic keys (such as Dynamic Mobile IP Key Update) for a desired service, such cryptographic key authentication may be accomplished in a different way. Instead of merely rejecting a service request when a cryptographic key for the mobile station is not found at the home network, the home network may initiate a process by which a text messaging channel is utilized to establish such cryptographic key with the requesting mobile station. Alternatively, the home network may utilize other information, such as a verifiable identifier or credential for the requesting mobile station (e.g., IMSI, MIN, etc.) along with a roaming status of the requesting mobile station to authenticate the mobile station and grant access to network services allowing a requested service to be established.

    摘要: An apparatus or method integrates device policy and network policy in order to arbitrate a priority between packet data applications or services for a data connection. In response to a request, a data connection to a wireless network is established for a first application of a first type of application or service if no data session is in progress or if a second application of a second type of application or service can share an existing data session. A hybrid arbitrator performs hybrid arbitration between the first application and the second application in response to determining that the first type and the second type cannot share the existing data session, either based upon a network policy that specifies a difference in priority between the first type and the second type, or based upon a device policy if the network policy does not specify a difference in priority.
