摘要: Certain embodiments of the invention provide plates for treating periarticular fractures or other non-full body weight bearing applications that combine polyaxial fixation with a low profile and enhanced contouring that more closely conforms to bone. Such plates can be designed to achieve buttressing effect and/or to be used in a reinforcement mode. Other features can be combined with these. Such plates can be created for use on bone sites such as on a tibia, fibula, metatarsal, calcaneous, other foot bone, humerus, radius, ulna, spinal, maxillofacial, as well as sites on other bones.

摘要: A system for fixation of bone, including a bone plate with an opening comprising threads made of a first material and a fastener with a head at least partially comprising a polymeric material that is softer than the first material. In some embodiments, when the fastener is inserted into the first opening, the threads of the first opening form threads in the polymeric material on the head of the fastener and secure the fastener in place at one of a plurality of possible angles within the first opening. The first opening additionally accepts a fastener with a substantially spherical head for compression of a fracture, or a fastener with a threaded head that engages with the threads of the threaded opening. In some embodiments the first opening includes a substantially frustoconical-shaped top portion. In other embodiments there may be a second opening that is either non-threaded or comprises a plurality of protruding fins.

摘要: A bone plate system for fixation of bone includes a bone plate and a first fastener. The bone plate includes a bone contacting surface, an upper surface, and a first opening extending between the bone contacting surface and the upper surface. The first opening includes a lower portion, a non-threaded upper portion, and a threaded portion. The threaded portion includes threads and converges towards the lower portion. The lower portion includes a smallest diameter of the first opening. The first fastener includes a head at least partially comprising a spherical portion and a first material. When the first fastener is inserted into the first opening, the threads of the first opening form threads in the first material on the head of the first fastener to secure the first fastener in place at one of a plurality of possible angles within the first opening.

摘要: A system for fixation of bone, including a bone plate with an opening comprising threads made of a first material and a fastener with a head at least partially comprising a polymeric material that is softer than the first material. 摘要: A bone plate system for fixation of bone includes a bone plate and a first fastener. 摘要: A spinal construct for implantation in a patient to provide stabilization to spinal structure with improved load sharing includes a flexible spinal rod having a first end and a second end, the spinal rod being configured to provide stabilization to spinal structure. It also includes a first bone fastener configured to securely attach to the flexible spinal rod and a second bone fastener configured to securely attach to the flexible spinal rod. The second bone fastener is a dynamic fastener arranged to provide motion in one direction more than another direction. The flexible spinal rod and the second bone fastener are oriented to cooperate in a manner that achieves load sharing by dynamically flexing under applied loads in a manner that distributes stresses and strains between the flexible spinal rod and the second bone fastener.

摘要: A spinal construct for implantation in a patient to provide stabilization to spinal structure with improved load sharing includes a flexible spinal rod having a first end and a second end, the spinal rod being configured to provide stabilization to spinal structure.
