摘要: A pressurizable tool adapted for expanding a close-fitting sleeve into a tube in a tubesheet. The tool includes a housing containing an axially movable piston and a forward reduced diameter portion and having an elastic expander unit for inserting into the sleeve and tube in a tubesheet. The expander unit consists of at least two elastic rings composed of a polyurethane elastomer material and each having a chamfer provided at the outer edge of the unit forward and rear faces. By pressurizing a port at the housing front end, the piston is moved rearwardly to axially compress and expand the expander rings radially outwardly sufficiently to expand the sleeve firmly into the tube and provide a pressure tight seal therebetween. Following such expansion of the sleeve, the piston is pressurized and moved forward to release the compression on the expander unit rings, so that the tool can be easily withdrawn from the expanded sleeve and tube and inserted into another sleeve and tube for repeated usage.

摘要: A split type sealing device for providing high pressure sealing around a cylindrical member such as a tube. The sealing device utilizes a primary flexible split seal ring element and a rigid split back-up ring, which have their splits positioned on opposite sides of the cylindrical member so as to encircle the member. The seal rings are maintained in position against high sealing pressure by a split seal retainer enclosed by mating clamping means, such as a slotted coupling member having an external threaded end and a mating conduit and ring nut. The pressure axial loading on the tube is accommodated by a split clamp ring which clamps the coupling to the cylindrical member, which is usually a tube. The seal device is suitable for sealing against internal pressures of 0-5000 psi.

摘要: An electronic safe and arming device includes an enclosure (11) which has a circuit (16) for enabling a detonator (26). The circuit (16) has a sealed tube switch (17) which is pressurized with a gas mixture. The enclosure (11) is pressurized with substantially the same gas mixture (19) and pressure as in the tube switch (17). Safe and arm electronics control (20) triggering the tube switch (17) to set off a detonator (26) which in turn sets off an explosive charge. As a result the present safe and arming device is single fault tolerant.

摘要: An advanced optical sensor for determining the stand-off distance from a trajecting container to a target utilizes various checks and filters to eliminate false detonations caused by glint and counter-measures. The sensor is comprised of a transmitter, a receiver, and a wave generator. The wave generator generates a unique wave form which is relayed to both the receiver and the transmitter. The light emitted from the transmitted follows a pattern defined by the wave generator. When light is received by the receiver, a synchronous detector coupled to the wave form generator determines if the return light has a pattern correlating with the unique wave form from the wave generator. If so, the associated electric signal in the receiver must pass a predetermined threshold for a predetermined period of time before the sensor will generate a detonate signal.

摘要: A radar device radiates and receives radio frequency energy pulses using an antenna having two independently driven major lobes. The two major lobes aim in two separate directions, and a third direction halfway between the two directions exhibited by the two major lobes represents an aim line of the apparatus. The antenna selectively radiates both circularly and linearly polarized pulses. Reflections received from circularly and linearly polarized pulses are compared to prevent a false indication of an object's centroid.

摘要: A suction drainage system for body cavities includes a suction collection container, and a disposable suction control chamber through which an essentially constant level of suction is applied to a body cavity. Drained fluids flow into the suction collection container, into the suction control chamber through an elastomeric check valve which precludes backflow of fluids to the patient. A pressure monitoring tube in the suction control chamber has a lower end communicating with ambient pressure and an upper end communicating with the interior of the suction control chamber. A ball in the tube rises to a level which is proportional to the negative pressure inside the suction control chamber. The suction control chamber can be removably mounted to the collection container.

摘要: An automatically-adjusting photometer for measuring the absorbance of a sample in which the amount of light passing through a sample test location is sensed by a photodetector and converted to an electrical output signal. The output signal is amplified and converted to a logarithmic value. Prior to measuring the absorbance of a sample, the photometer is calibrated by a computer. With the sample test location empty, the computer records and places in memory a logarithmic value proportional to the electrical output signal which corresponds to zero absorbance. Next, this value is reduced by a predetermined factor by switching a resistor into the calibration circuitry. The resulting value is also recorded and placed in memory by the computer. When a sample is placed in the test location, the computer records a value proportional to the electrical output signal which corresponds to the absorbance of the sample. Using the three recorded values the computer calculates the correctly-adjusted absorbance of the sample.
