摘要: A fluidic, volume-cycled respirator circuit comprising a fluidic flowmeter, a tidal volume selection controller and an inlet valve. The flowmeter is connected to the controller through a transmitting means which transmits gas flow frequency signals. Said controller is then connected to the inlet valve, which is connected back to the flowmeter; hence, the respirator circuit is complete. The tidal volume selection controller may operate by either fluidics, electronics, or the combination of the two. The flowmeter facilitates supply of air to the patient. The amount of air supplied is controlled by the tidal volume selection controller which senses inspiration and gas flow frequency. The controller is equipped with a timer back-up system in the event that either the system or the patient fail to respond. The valve is operated at the direction of the tidal volume selection controller. The valve is open during the inspiratory phase and closed during the exhalation phase. The respirator herein overcomes the use of burdensome piston-bellows assemblies, has few moving parts and is relatively small in size. The use of piston-bellows assemblies is avoided by the use of a fluidic oscillator flowmeter.

摘要: A heart-sound monitor and esophageal stethoscope which makes use of fluidicaminar proportional amplifiers (LPAs). These LPA's are used to sense and amplify incoming acoustic pressure signals, such as heart signals. Moreover, the fluidic monitor is able to monitor a fetus heartbeat while eliminating the acoustic interference present from the mother's heartbeat. In this case, the LPA acts not only as an amplifier, but as an acoustic filter as well.

摘要: A sonar sensor comprising a substantially non-corrodible housing and a fluidic gainblock disposed therein. In addition, one or more fluid-filled laminar proportional amplifiers are arranged either in series or in parallel and contained within the fluidic gainblock. Means are provided to produce a jet within each laminar proportional amplifier, which is then modulated by incoming acoustic signals. The pressure caused by diverting the jet from its equilibrium path is proportional to, but greater than, the incoming acoustic signal. Hydrophones are used to convert the amplified acoustic signal into an electrical signal. In one embodiment, the fluidic gainblock is free-flooded and open to the liquid environment in which it is used, obviating the need for pressure equalization. In another embodiment, the fluidic gainblock is provided with filtering means for prevent the accumulation of sediment within the cavities making up the laminar proportional amplifiers. In yet another embodiment, the fluidic gainblock is a closed-system which recirculates its fluid supply, increasing the sensor's operating life and isolating the laminar proportional amplifiers therein.

摘要: A radar altimeter is provided that includes a transmitter operable to generate a radio signal at a modulation frequency, and transmit the radio signal toward a ground surface for reflection therefrom to thereby propagate a reflected radio signal. The radar altimeter also includes a receiver operable to receive the reflected radio signal, and determine the altitude of the aircraft based on the modulation frequency of the radio signal and a difference frequency derived from the radio signal and the reflected radio signal. The receiver is also operable to control the transmitter so as to vary the modulation frequency of the radio signal based on the altitude of the aircraft. Preferably, the modulation frequency of the radio signal is greater at lower altitudes than at higher altitudes.

摘要: A fluidic partial pressure sensor for obtaining a direct indication of the partial pressure of a gas constituent in a mixture relative to a reference gas. A fluidic bridge's geometry is so designed and structured that if the pressure across the bridge is maintained constant, the pressure differential between the two channels thereby becomes directly proportional to the partial pressure of the gas constituent of interest. A typical bridge sensor therefore can provide a direct indication of partial pressure. The geometry of the bridge network is chosen so that the sensor gain constant varies linearly with ambient pressure.
