A printed circuit board module for a rack mounted chassis. The module includes a latching assembly having: a handle and a catch. When the module is inserted a predetermined distance into a chassis, the catch becomes inserted into an aperture formed on the chassis and when, at such predetermined distance, the handle is slid inwardly into the chassis, the catch engages the handle to retain the handle within the module. On the other hand if, when the module is inserted into the chassis at a distance less than the predetermined distance, the catch is unable to be inserted into an aperture and when the handle is slid inwardly from the chassis, the catch prevents the handle from being retained and such handle, when released, is urged outwardly of the module thereby indicating that the module is improperly inserted within the chassis.

An electronic cabinet having a set of vertically-oriented frame members, a set of fasteners attached to the set of vertically-oriented frame members, and a panel. The panel includes a cover, a set of latches coupled to the cover, and a set of buttons. When the set of latches engages the set of fasteners to secure the panel to the set of vertically-oriented frame members and when the set of buttons is depressed, the set of buttons disengages the set of latches from the set of fasteners to release the panel from the set of vertically-oriented frame members. Such a configuration enables a user to fully remove the panel from the cabinet without having to disconnect a hinge as for conventional hinged panels. Furthermore, such a configuration is well-suited for employing a locking mechanism that controls depression of the set of buttons to provide secure equipment access.

A bezel has a locking mechanism that allows bezel designs to locate the bezel lock anywhere along the length of the bezel. The bezel includes a bezel frame, a first plunger mechanism, and a second plunger mechanism. Each plunger mechanism is moveably coupled to the bezel frame at opposite ends of the bezel frame and is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position. A first rod is attached to the first plunger mechanism and a second rod is attached to the second plunger mechanism. A cam lock is positioned between the first rod and the second rod. The cam lock is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position, wherein the cam lock restricts movement of both rods sufficiently to stop the plunger mechanisms from moving from the latched position to the unlatched position when the cam lock is in the locked position.

The shield includes an electrically conductive shield having first and second sides and a gasket attached on the first side at a periphery of the shield. The shield has a slot formed therein. A panel portion has a front wall and side walls defining an interior region. The panel portion also includes a spring receptacle and a snap that each extends substantially perpendicular from the front wall within the interior region. The spring receptacle has a spring inserted therein with a portion of the spring extending out of the spring receptacle. The snap has a hook at one end of the snap. The spring urges against the second side of the shield and the hook enters the slot and catches onto the first side of the shield when the shield is attached to the panel portion.

Described is a disk drive assembly and method for constructing same. The disk drive assembly includes a carrier-less disk drive having opposite sides, each with at least one hole. A carrier holds the disk drive. The carrier includes a frame around three sides of the disk drive. The frame has a base and opposing sidewalls. Each sidewall has an integrally formed pin that enters a corresponding hole in a side of the disk drive to position the disk drive within the frame. Coupled to the frame where each sidewall terminates is a clip. The clip provides a fourth side to the frame opposite the base and causes the sidewalls to hold the disk drive tightly therebetween. An injector-ejector mechanism can be rotatably coupled to the clip for pivotal movement between open and closed positions. Such movement urges the disk drive assembly out of and into a chassis bay.

Described is a fan assembly constructed to enable fans to be installed and removed from a storage enclosure individually or collectively. The fan assembly has a plurality of fan packs and a support frame that includes a plurality of wells for holding fan packs. Each fan pack includes a fan and a fan mount attached to the fan, and each fan pack is disposed in one of the plurality of wells. A first latch-and-release mechanism secures one of the fan packs to the side walls of the well within which that fan pack is disposed. The first latch-and release mechanism enables that fan pack to be removed individually from the fan assembly. A second latch-and release mechanism secures the support frame to opposing side walls of an enclosure. The second latch-and-release mechanism enables the fan assembly to be removed from the enclosure while populated with the plurality of fan packs.
