    摘要: Oral hygiene devices employing an ultrasound transducer are disclosed. The device is user-activatable to commence an operating cycle, and has a controller that may provide a timing function and may provide a variable level of ultrasound transducer output during an operating cycle. The controller may provide a monitoring function that is capable of detecting an ultrasound transducer fault condition and alert a user, through a user interface, when an ultrasound transducer fault condition is detected. The controller may be programmed to count the number of device operating cycles or accumulate the total device operating time and activate a transducer replacement signal following a predetermined number of uses or a predetermined accumulated operating time. The ultrasound transducer assembly may be provided in operative communication with an ultrasound drive circuit and power supply by means of a transformer assembly that inductively couples and transfers power from the ultrasound drive circuit to the ultrasound transducer.

    摘要: A pump used in a power toothbrush for fluid delivery to the bristles. The pump moves fluid provided to it to a dispensing valve located in the brushhead. The pump includes a pump chamber with a piston ball located therein. The piston ball moves within the chamber in response to movement of the brushhead, moving fluid out a discharge end of the pump chamber under pressure. The pump includes a fluid exit channel which connects the discharge end of the pump chamber with an opening in the brushhead in which the dispensing valve is located.

    摘要: A first aspect of the disclosure concerns a driving assembly for a power toothbrush which includes a drive member, specifically an E-core electromagnet, a driven member which is responsive to the action of the drive member and a workpiece mounted on the distal end of the driven member. The drive assembly includes an interface registration member, to one end surface portion of which is secured the end face of E-core electromagnet, another portion of which is configured to produce a selected registration of the driven member and the driving assembly, and still another portion of which is configured to produce a selected registration of the interface member relative to the handle of the toothbrush.A second aspect of the disclosure concerns a split bobbin assembly for an electrical coil portion of an electromagnet in a power toothbrush. The split bobbin assembly includes a first portion which mates with a portion of the appliance which is exposed to the operating environment of the appliance and is made from a material which has sufficient chemical-resistant properties for tolerance of exposure to the environment. A second portion of the split bobbin is made from a material which is resistant to heat so as to withstand soldering of the electrical coil wires to the terminal pins positioned in a base part of the bobbin assembly. Connecting elements on the first and second portions join the two portions together.

    摘要: The valve comprises a flexible resilient valve member which is positioned in a flexible fluid line in a fluid-tight relationship therewith. An actuating element, such as a ring-shaped member, surrounds the valve member, and an actuating coil is positioned adjacent the ring member. An electrical control signal energizes the coil in operation, producing a magnetic field which moves the actuating element to deform the valve member, opening the valve. Termination of the electrical signal permits the valve member to return to its normal closed position arrangement. A feedback control system is provided for the valve which includes providing pre-established limits on time and volume of fluid delivery. Determinations are successively made as to whether such limitations have been met, and the control valve is closed when one such limitation has been met.
