摘要: A treating ladle for use in a foundry in the production of ductile iron is disclosed wherein the treating ladle has a removable bottom portion and a detachably connected ladle carrier. The ladle carrier includes a bail carrier adapted for connection to a hoist and a retaining ring pivotally connected to the bail carrier to support the treating ladle for a tipping motion for emptying the contents thereof. Corresponding tabs mounted on the bottom portion and the body of the treating ladle permit the individual pieces to be bolted together to facilitate a disassembly of the treating ladle when maintenance and/or repair is desired. The treating ladle is adapted for connection to a separately attachable tundish cover.

摘要: A tundish cover for use with a treating ladle in the production of ductile iron is disclosed wherein the tundish cover is provided with a pouring spout, a pressure exhaust port, a treatment alloy charging tube, a slag removal port and mounting tabs to detachably connect the tundish cover to the treating ladle. The pressure exhaust port includes a floating cover to provide a host for oxide condensation during the treatment process. Removable covers on the charging tube and the slag removal port permit selective access to the interior of the treating ladle without requiring disassembly of the tundish cover from the treating vessel.

摘要: An electrolytic cell for generating chlorine gas and caustic and delivering only these products of the electrolytic cell to the swimming pool. The electrolytic cell is vented above the catholyte, and a catholyte overflow conduit has its inlet at an upper part of the cathode chamber, the overflow conduit being connected to a Venturi. The catholyte overflow conduit has an inlet for chlorine connected to it, which inlet is above the anolyte in the anode chamber; preferably, the chlorine inlet and the catholyte overflow conduit are joined into a single chlorine gas and catholyte outflow conduit which is connected to the Venturi. The catholyte volume is between 41/4 and 43/4 gallons. A hydrometer is provided in the cathode chamber to signal an excess strength of catholyte. The anode is of pressed carbon, having a titanium connector plug. A cation membrane is secured between an annular flange and a ring. A method of operating an electrolytic cell for delivering chlorine and sodium hydroxide to a swimming pool includes the establishment of an alkalinity in the body of water in the swimming pool of approximately 80-150 ppm.
