摘要: A program generator allows a user to create a software program capable of being executed by a remote labeler to control the printing of one or more labels and to control data collection operations thereof. The program generator stores a user entered sequence of commands selected from a set of commands that control label printing and data collection operations. The stored sequence of commands is validated in accordance with the program generator such that each command entered by the user is compared to a set of allowable commands to determine whether the command is valid or not. During the validation of each of the commands, the program generator determines whether the parameters of the command define allowable data manipulation operations to be performed by the labeler. If not, the program generator provides an error message that identifies the particular command and the error associated with the command. The program generator allows various application files to be selectively linked together to form an application program. Further, when downloading an application file to a labeler, the program generator automatically determines whether the application program requires a look-up file. If so, the program generator creates the necessary look-up file.

摘要: A microprocessor controlled thermal printer particularly usable in a hand-held labeler for printing labels on a composite web detects indices on the web and utilizes the detected indices to position the labels relative to the print head. The printer utilizes an improved index detection system that compensates for variations in index size and density and for variations in sensor sensitivity by detecting both the leading and trailing edges of an index and utilizing the distance between the detected leading and trailing edges to determine the length of the index. By dividing the length thus determined by two, and by advancing the web by this amount after the detection of the leading edge of an index, the center of the index can be accurately located, and the web can be accurately registered at any desired position relative to the center of the index.

摘要: A method, system, and computer program product are provided for selectively discarding packets in a network device. The method includes receiving an upstream bandwidth saturation indicator for a queue in the network device, and identifying one or more codecs employed in packets in the queue when the upstream bandwidth saturation indicator indicates saturation. The method further includes determining a packet discarding policy based on the one or more codecs, and discarding packets in accordance with the packet discarding policy.

摘要: Various graphical displays used for visualization of control techniques in a process control system can be provided to an operator. For example, a graphical display could include (i) an image associated with at least a portion of a process and (ii) one or more icons identifying one or more process variables associated with at least the portion of the process. Selection of an icon could present the operator with a faceplate containing information associated with at least one of the process variables. Another graphical display could include (i) a focal variable symbol identifying a focal process variable and (ii) one or more additional variable symbols identifying one or more additional process variables associated with the focal process variable. Gains associated with the additional process variables could be identified in the display. Yet another graphical display could be used to remotely invoke and control applications executing in a process control system.

摘要: A pair of compact, energy-efficient, intelligent, wireless transceiver units are designed to replace the cable that interconnects a portable bar-code scanner, keyboard, and display or other host to a portable bar-code printer or the like. When reset, the units exchange linkage packets and thereby exchange addresses. Thereafter, the two units communicate in an error-free fashion with each other, even in the presence of noise and interference, by exchanging addressed packets containing error detection information. Alternate transmission frequencies are selected when transmissions cannot be received at one frequency. The host unit may maintain independent linkages with multiple printers or the like, with a switch on the host unit selecting the desired printer. Power usage is minimized by shutting down transmitters, receivers, serial port drivers, and microprocessors whenever possible, and for extended periods when data is not being transmitted.
